The same old property stuff resurfaces, the fundamental questions to be answered is who did the land originally belong to? and whom did the current claimant of the land buy his properties from?
If this is from the Kacaan government, this should be nullified as no witnesses will be alive to testify to this, and with witnesses I am not referring to the kacaan bureaucrat that signed the papers but the original people the land was bought from, if the Kacaan document state this and a witness can testify from that family descendants, the case will be legal.
However I find it amazing this argument is only brought forth when it comes to Xamar but no where else in Somalia, I don't see MX claiming lands in Galinsoor which i know they have been kicked out from and have a right to claim, or HG in Northern Gaalkacayo/Beledweyne, DIR in J/land during the Kacaan era and Jareer in Bosaaso.
There is only one way to look at this, it can't be qabyaalad but rather its the silent testament of the superiority of those in Xamar, there is no doubt in the whole of Somalia, the people that live there based on what they have been through and still fighting for somalinimo are second to none in the whole Somali peninsula.
It's the reason why everyone lays claim to it but nowhere else in Somalia were far more land and properties were looted from others, but you never hear a single court-case or challenge.
Those are interesting points, but I will say that the courts have looked at this and both the Attorney General and the Supreme Court Judge neither of whom are Darod have agreed with this MP that these were her properties.
With regards to Gelinsoor, it's a desert settlement. My grandma is Wagardhac (mom's mom) and she told me that Gelinsoor was almost deserted of Marehan by the early 80's. Today there is a xaafad in Beled-Xaawo and parts of Kismaayo that are completely Wagardhac. Marehan in general have been slowly moving south for over a hundred years.
I mean look at Dhuusa-Mareeb. Marehan started to move out completely from Dhuusa-Mareeb during abaarta Dabo-dheer. At that time Caabudwaaq was a small watering hole (it's not an old town at all) and many Marehan started to migrate there because it was the last extent of the Hawd and they were moving there for grazing. Today Caabudwaaq is the largest commercial center of Galgaduud and Dhuusa-Mareeb looks like a xaafad of Caabudwaaq from satellite images.
With regards to Mogadishu, it was and is the largest commercial center. It's not a village. People lost hanti and wealth they invested personally and they want it back
