Israel is good news, here is why

The Israeli campaign against Syria, Hesbollah and eventually Iran and the Houthis is great news for Somaliland.

It means more powerful nations see why the world needs friendly nations like the UAE in SL.

We need to isolate Iran and its allies. That only means ensuring they don't encroach into places like Aden and ultimately the Red Sea.

So the more important nations on UAE-SL side the more Somalia will be isolated and told to sit the f down.


Great development.

Opportunities are there for grabbing and war offers the best opportunities to mankind. Always did. Some get looted, killed, chased and the other side of the equation is the opposite.

Finally I feel SL played a hard ball.

Let's hope Israelis express interest so we need the Hourhis to made to look bigger than they are...as if they can over run Arabia and East Africa.

Israel is a colonial entity with an apartheid policy created by the UN because of European guilt complex and the Balfour declaration, justified by mythological claims of ownership.

1. Closer ties with Israel would be a hard sell with SL population and it would political suicide for anybody that does.

Abti I think you're not following things or the recent development in the region. The non-existent government of Somalia wants to take UAE/Somaliland to some imaginary court over the base. Faqashmajo already tried his luck with KSA and they clearly told him they don't want to hear about his tribal agendas hence there are multiple bases inside Somalia from small irrelevant states such as Kenya (Kismayo).

They said they only want to hear about humanitarian aid and the maid business (Boyaso nation).

So Faqashmajo and his crew are not happy meaning relations are not all good between UAE, its allies and Somalia. The regional enemy and to some degree global enemy in the eyes of the West, Gulf nations and Israel is Iran and her Shia elements.

That means Somalia is no longer onboard because it has to choose between entertaining these powerful allies and the Berbera base, meaning in the long term SL benefits greatly.

Even an international court will favor Somaliland. If Somalia is defeated there, Western oil companies and investors who were originally wary of legal actions will see the flood gates opened for them. So I doubt Somalia will risk it.

In short, Israeli joining the Gulf nations will strengthen the Berbera base. Israel will lobby her powerful allies in Washington, Brussels and beyond even the fat Saudis.

You may not see it today but there will be time Berbera will once again become a crucial real estate address for militaries. So far it hosted the Ottoman Empire, the British Empire, the Soviets, the Americans and now UAE. Perhaps the Israelis will inherit from the Emirates. Each empire/military added a value, which the new boy saw reasons to use it. UAE will make it better from where the Soviets and Americans had left it.
