How the TPLF is using the Somali Regional Gov’t to Survive

After a year-long state of emergency the Ethiopian regime believed that the situation in the country had been calmed, but when activists announced a 2nd 5 day strike in late August it took them by surprise. The first strike earlier this year economically crippled the regime as tax revenue had been brought to a hault. So when the regime announced a tax-hike in August to bring in some much needed finances, Oromo activists launched a second strike. Strikers demanded that all political prisoners in the country be released. Once again shops were closed, bustling town centers, bus depots and roads were emptied. Just as with the first strike officials and security forces used heavy handed tactics to force businesses to open but were unable. The strike went on for days before reports surfaced on August 24th 2017 of bomb blasts in the town of Jimma injuring 13 people. Activists believed that intelligence were trying planning a campaign of false flag attacks on civilians across the country to smear the movement, so the strike was called off and business resumed.

Shortly after this Abdi Iley declared war on the Oromia region, intensifying Liyu Police attacks and rounding up Oromos in Jijiga. The so called “Oromo-Somali conflict” is a manufactured tool to divert attention of activists fighting the regime. And for the most part it has been successful. Activists who were focused on fighting the regime are now shifting resources to the border area to support the displaced people. Young Somalis, like a lot of the people that post on this forum have to read between the lines. Take the time to understand what’s going on in that country.

Small question since K5 is Somali K, why do not Oromo respect the other people countries and regions? Just leave our country and run to Kenya or Uganda or Sudan

Use your head. Somalis live in the Oromo region, Oromos live in the Somali region. In alot of the boundary regions there's an overlap where ppl speak both languages and marry from eachother. I myself am Afran Qallo Oromo and have many Somali relatives and blood.

Simple easy solution, Somali man married to Oromo woman whole of his family is Somali and belongs to K5, Oromo man married to Somali woman, whole belongs to Oromia. Just respect the borders and stop expanding to our lands.
