Turkey helped ISIS more than anyone. In 2014 Turkey released 180 ISIS militants for just 49 Turkish hostages in return. Turkey famously kept open borders with Syria so they can trade for cheap oil with ISIS. Nobody fought ISIS more than the Kurds , and Turkey would routinely bomb them even as they fought ISIS. Even now, Turkey is looking to do what their proxy ISIS couldn't , eliminate the Kurds. So fuckin wat?
US was helping ISIS in Syria.
I think they want regional dominance . They want Iran controlling Yemen and to get cooperation from Eritrea. They want to be able to destabilize Ethiopia through Eritrea or Somalia if need be, because Ethiopia might be against any Turkish moves in Somalia as it would threaten Ethiopia or Kenya's place as the regional leader, and also because Ethiopia and UAE are partners on the Berbera Port. Turkey also wants to get closer to Sudan because of tensions with Egypt , as Egypt backs Saudi. In fact they could back Ethiopia against Egypt over the Nile Dam issue between the two countries again Ethiopia but money talks and right now Ethiopia and UAE have millions of dollars on the line with each other on a project that ethiopia cares about because it gives them access to the sea .Abdicushite
What do you think is Turkeys real motive behind helping Somalia as we know nothing is free in this world
This isn't old news since the guy was just convicted in court on January 3rd. Yesterday we got details from the case showing the depth so I posted here. This is old news. And it wasn't just Turkey.
India, South Korea, even the UAE were bypassing the sanctions by trading in mutual currencies and gold with Iran for trade.
Why do you think Obama and Kerry were so eager to get the Nuclear Deal done? It was because these type of transactions were also being done by China and Russia. The stability of the US dollar as the global reserve currency was at threat long term due to these practices.
But, Iran is going to continue to do these type of transactions even WITHOUT the international sanctions related to the nuclear program which were lifted in 2016.
