ONN: update from Moyale, March 12, 2018. ============= Moyale looks a ghost town. Most people left the town and fled to Kenya. Yesterday, Siraj Furgessa, Ethiopian Ministry of Defense, arrived in the area by Helicopter and spoke to the military and local government officials. He is reported to have said that "the militia and police do not have obligation to go after the OLF". There was a conflict between the local police between the government regular army ("defense forces") on one side, and the Oromian Police and the local militia on the other side because the military ordered the later to fight the OLF fighters and the police and militia refused to do so. Not far from the Moyale town in the country side the local police and the militia met with the OLF units operating in the area and pledged not to fight each other because they have a common enemy of their people which is the TPLF army. The Ethiopian army was frustrated by this development that the police and militia refused to fight as it used to do over the last several years and decided to massacre anyone it found on the street of Moyale out of frustration. Prior to the massacre the OLF unit engaged the TPLF army at a different (around Xuqaa), burned one Oral truck, killed 12 soldiers and wounded 17 others confiscated machine guns and ammunition. The TPLF army fled the area, came to Moyale town and ordered the police and militia to go and fight and they refused. The refusal and their inability to go and defeat the OLF unit caused the frustration and hence the massacre.
Oromo unity is at an all time high. The protracted oppression and killings is making it happen, too. tplf thought brute force would solve the oromo ''question,'' but it's failing. the oromo are marching towards death, even, with no fear.
protracted oppression tends to sharpen an ethnicity's sense of identity. it makes them unite, even if it's for survival.
it's a matter of time before u see: oromo army members defect with their arms + oromia police + oromo militias + OLF units all uniting under One centralized military command....
