Neutrality in the Gulf: UAE has been given a brotherly slap, now we must extend goodwill
There are many countries involved in Somalia that are part of the alliance against Qatar; UAE, Saudi, Egypt, Bahrain, etc.
None of them have responded to Somalia's stated neutrality to the Gulf crisis where they wanted us to cut links with Qatar like UAE has.
As a result, none have received the treatment from Somalia like UAE has.
UAE has tried to act in bad faith and play with our long friendship and brotherly links. They have gotten into our internal affairs between federal states and the federal government at a time we are fragile and building state institutions, they have funded spoilers and war profiteers like Abdirashiid Ali Shermarke and Abdirahman Abdishakuur, the troops they trained for Somalia have gone rogue and even attacked a Senator's home (Abdi Qaybdiid), and they tried to flush Somalia with bribe money as evidenced by the seizure of millions of dollars and documents from the raid on Abdirahman Abdishakur's house and the impounded UAE Royal Jet.
Somalia has shown patience and realpolitik by not already having cut links with UAE, but impounding a UAE Royal Jet, detaining the UAE Ambassador in the process, seizing 10 million dollars, and rescinding the security agreement between UAE and Somalia with the UAE troops to be disbursed to other training camps (probably to the Turkish camp) are strong and highly visible measures against UAE that shows bad blood has seeped in.
It also shows the speed with which the Somali government is becoming more powerful everyday. The status quo has changed.
These steps are so far strong enough to help convince UAE that it has caused real offense.
Still the UAE is a large trading partner of Somalia and we have always had a great relationship and brotherly cooperation including that UAE has helped Somalia a lot as well during the civil war.
If I were an advisor to Farmaajo, I would tell him to request an audience with the UAE Emir to relay our concerns and why Somalia felt to move as it did. Offer reapproachment and make a concerted effort to continue to work together as before going forward.
I think the UAE has gotten the point.

As long as they want to play dirty Somalia will always be cautious. Berbera deal and Emirates willingness to the breakup of Somalia will always haunt the common Somali geeljire man.

Farmaajo should stick to the neutrality commitment, continue to deal with terrorism, money laundering, corruptions and that sorry excuse for a coup. Foreigners will continue to meddle in your affairs, regardless if you are a powerful nation or a very weak government.
Farmaajo will make deals independent from UAE if he wants to he can make deals with Russia, Iran etc, this does not concern UAE, we are an independent nations, and we should certainly not use that as a threat against UAE that is gunnimo to the maximum.
Voltage if I was Farmaajo I would use this assault against me to whip up nationalism, I would point the finger to UAE and UAE agents, continue to stop their meddling without cutting ties, until the country is so united, people start paying tax etc that I don't even have need for UAE anymore.

There can be no goodwill towards this spiteful little kingdom until:
1. They withdraw DP world from Berbera as asked (before it gets even more serious)
2. They stay out of internal affairs of Somalia.
Until these two conditions are met the pressure should be on UAE. Any other "goodwill" risk making us and the glorius mujahid Farmaajo look like a flower, which we know he isnt.

Somalia repaid UAE's goodwill and funding with flagrant aggression and insult
If UAE have dignity they will cut ties with Somalia

Or extend the neutrality to the Shi’a Sunni conflict in the Middle East by rescinding support for the campaign against the Houthis, taking neutral position in Syria and reestablishing ties with Iran.

Deescalation is the right course of action........no need to antagonize the UAE any further.
The Govt has sent a clear unambiguous statement......."we will not stand for any f*@kery from you".
We will have to wait and see how the UAE responds.

PS now is not the time to reestablish ties with the brotherly Iranians.

Somalia is making big boy moves with Turkish Balls, I suggest we slow down there are no friends in politics but mutual interests.
We handed over our Sea-port and biggest Airport to Turkey opening the door to the whole East Africa. We got in return a military camp some nice roads in the capital and scholarships in the thousands who are returning speaking fluent Turkish. I see a complete takeover let's slow the fuck down and diversify our political and economical partners. At the rate we are going our official language will soon be Turkish.
And don't try to say that would never happen. Our official language was once Italian!
And we know the official language of the Kenyans, and their master still won't let them fly to London.

Are you saying just because the UAE helped Somalia, they should be allowed to do as they please in the country?Futurist wrote: Wed Apr 11, 2018 2:57 pm Somalia repaid UAE's goodwill and funding with flagrant aggression and insult

Re: Neutrality in the Gulf: UAE has been given a brotherly slap, now we must extend goodwill
Even when UAE tries to hurt Somalia they help them. Between the raid on AbdiShukur and the seizure that just happened that was how many millions of dollars the Gov got?
Jokes aside Somalia needs UAE at the end of the day. They have welcomed and allowed Dubai to be an operating base for so many Somali businesses. They’ve treated Somalis well in UAE. Best bet is to be slick and suck recourses from all sides of this conflict

Great point voltage.
the president should have a phone conversation with the emir of uae and send the prime minister kheyre and wasiirka transportation.
we should approve berbera deal, its not like the UAE are going to build berbera, they just want to run it to the ground, like they did to aden port
DP world
the problem was that they didnt respect the rule of law and international diplomatic norm

This has been my position from the beginning........the DP World can have Berbera for a thousand years.
However......the deal must be in accordance with the constitution and not infringe upon the sovereignty and dignity of Somalia.

You have to admit, these boon marexaans, are on some awesome intoxicants, or they are up and coming comedians. Nothing they post on this forum is close to reality. Take this one above, his towns and cities are occupied by Kenyans, al-shabab, or Ethiopia. They don't have a single admin to organise or build schools, hospitals, nothing.Typhoon wrote: Thu Apr 12, 2018 12:51 pmoriginal dervish wrote: Thu Apr 12, 2018 12:16 pm This has been my position from the beginning........the DP World can have Berbera for a thousand years.

The only claim to fame they have is some dictator who dead 20 odd years ago on some toilet in Nigeria and/or this washed up boon who has Hawiye handlers up in his bunker somewhere in Mogadishu.
Do we pity these boons or laugh at them...
