He everyone,
I'm new to this forum so have my excuses just in case. I'm currently researching Somalia and Somaliland as a topic of my degree. The research question is "why didn't foreign aid help Somalia to build fully functional state". I'm currently researching news and related stuff. If anyone interested or can provide a valuable insight, please answer a few of my questions or engage in discussion. Your local/expert opinion may be really valuable to me. So the questions are:
1. Does Somaliland receive foreign aid (financial, humanitarian, military)? If it does, then which kind of and in what amounts? Any other help, myabe unofficial one? If it does not (and that's the case as far as I know) then how did it manage to build a stable government, though unrecognized one.
2. It depends on the previous question: did foreign aid somehow hinder state building in Somalia?
3. What was the purpose of foreign aid received and how was it distributed? Maybe existing transitional governments just wasted foreign funds?
So generally I need answers to those questions and some general information/data/etc. Hope you guys contribute a little bit to my study, as I tried to reach out experts and had no replies at all.
In my turn, I'm open to provide info on Russian politics and history, as I'm a political scientist here.
Thanks to everyone in advance!
