Reliable sources confirmed MOL that Prime Minister Hassan Khaire had a secret meeting with Kirill Dmitriev and former Navy SEAL and founder of now-defunct Blackwater Eric Prince, who is also the co-founder and CEO of Frontier Service Group (FSG), which signed a lucrative infrastructure and logistics contract worth more than $10 billion with the South West State of Somalia in June 2017.
The Prime Minister was giving assurance to FSG as demanded by his friend and close ally president Sharif Hassan of South West State that the Federal government will not oppose such contract, which will improve the infrastructure, develop the Barawe port of South West State and contribute to regional trade and security. The UAE is also involved as it is the sole investor in this contract.
Western Diplomat based in Abu Dhabi told MOL “ Prime Minister Kheyre decided to preempt any effort by Farmaajo to remove him by all allying himself with UAE” he added “UAE will see an opportunity to corner Farmaajo and his team” The source also confirmed that Eric Prince is lobbying through the Federal Government of Somalia to use private military contractors comprised of mercenaries from South Africa and South America to replace AMISOM. Somali PM and Prince along with Kirill Dmitriev, chief executive of the state-run Russian Direct Investment Fund, allegedly discussed plans to create a robust security company to protect the interest of SOMA-OIL and GAS. Similar proposal to privatize security and intelligence in Afghanistan was lobbied through the US Senate by Prince last year.
