I agree with u that the figures are fake. Mogadishu now has no less than 3 million people in the city including many of ur isaaq brothers. Lower shabelle has over 2 million without a question. The 1.2 million figure is ridiculous. Look at the sizes of buulo mareer, qoryooley marka barawe awdhegle sablaale wanlaweyn etc. This region alone has a much larger population than hargeisa. The tuulos in lower shabelle are on top of each other. Look at how slow it is taken the SNA to take control of the region. Lol burco is smaller in size than beledweyne or even galkacyo. The population density of the south is incomparable to puntland or somaliland

Due to lack of rivers, less vegetation, little to unpredictable rains, droughts prone & inhospitable environment--there's no way the figures in Waqooyi, Bari and gobolada dhexe are correct. Waqooyi is planning to move millions to coastal areas (Berbera, etc) due to droughts, but it would be hard to survive in those coastal towns & cities. Instead, I believe many reer Mudug, Waqooyis & Baris would migrate (it has already started) to the South/Southwest for better chance of survival.

I believe waqooyi is more inhabitable than bari. I also believe the figures for waqooyi galbeed are more or less correct. The population of bari is surely false though. Look at the sizes of alula and eyl. That alone is evidence of siad barres ridiculous policy of naming districts because of clan bias. Compare it to janaale buulomareer etc.

The climate in the north is completly different to bari and gobolada dhexe. All you need to do is look at the populations of the ethiopian gobols that border waqooyi gobols. From djibouti sitti dirdaba faafan jarar togdheer and waqooyi galbeed. That areas is smaller than the land between the two rivers but is significantly more populated. This area is only inhabitted by 4 subclans. The climate is lush farm land that is a continuation of the ethiopian highlands and the best geeljire pastures of the hawd. Sool has a population of 300k 1/3 of which is isaaq. Sanaag has a population of 500k with 60% isaaq including the capital of ceerigabo.

There is also only 1 gobol faafan with a population of 1.5 million between waqooyi galbeed and the landlocked oromo gobol of east hararge with a population of 2.5 million excuding the city of harar which is its own gobol. The north is the cultural and and economic centre of somaliweyn.

Firtly The coast in somaliland is too hot for anyone to live there permanently.
Your saying people are travelling from Togdheer and Maroodi jeex to lower shabeele for better pasture. Are you kidding me. Why would people risk their lives to live in Al kebab run land when they are living in peace. In fact it’s the other way around you langaab liar. There are tens of thousands of refugees living in somaliland from Somalia. Some live in IDP camps, some economic migrants that are looking for a better life. Nearly all the people working in the farms are either jereer or D&M. Even some of them look after the camels. My uncle had south people looking after his camels from the south.

Now that I bust your myths back to the topic. Hargeysa to Diri dawa is the most densely populated area in the Horn of Africa, plus it sits on smaller area than the 2 rivers. So many cities in such a small area. Hargeysa, gabiley, wajaale, boorame, Jigjiga, herer, diri dawa...
This area receives a lot of rainfall and has a huge population. Most of the people practice crop farming and the area is full of farms. When I went from Hargeysa to Gabiley all my eyes could see was corn field upon corn fields, the whole area was green. Then I realised why the called Gabiley region the corn region.

A lot has changed and bound to get worse (hopefully not) due to climate change. Coastal cities/towns in Waqooyi might be inhabitable, but very hard to survive due to high temperatures (50c and plus) and limited opportunities. Nonetheless, Waqooyi maamul is planning to move at least 2m to those area:
