Ismaaciili Caraale was the amiir of Al shabaab during that time. Cayrow was never an amiir , when Caraale was captured and sold to the CIA , Godane became the new amiir.

All shabaab never had a Hawiye amiir. Both Caraale and Godane are Isaaqs.

Well too bad, the organization they started turned into a muderous cult hell bent on killing everyone and their mother.

After defeating Ethiopia, they should have respected the wishes of ICU instead of declaring allegiance to foriegn terrorist groups and becoming the enemy.
