Re: USA behind changes in Horn of Africa

Just as I knew all along its the US invisible hands that are behind changes in the Horn of Africa. The main reason is the US wants to counter the Chinese influence/development in the Horn, US wants to control the Horn of Africa as its the most strategic location in Africa linking east and west, also close to the oil rich Arabian gulf.

It all started when China decided to open its first military overseas base in Djibouti. US was already not happy with the huge Chinese influence and development in the region. America being America wanted to stay number 1 and rule the world. This angered the US, having a Chinese military base next to US base. So the US decided it was time for plan B, using Eritrea.

The US sent it’s 2 little assistants UAE and Saudi Arabia. The used the war in Yemen as an excuse. Eritrea which had been sanctioned, as well as having bad relationships with all its neighbors got a chance to be an key ally. The UAE offered to manage the port of Assab, which is the main sea port for Eritrea that lies on the strategic Red Sea. The emirates also built their first overseas military base in the port city of Assab, Eritrea.

Once Eritrea got on board it was time to bring Ethiopia on board. The former Ethiopian government TPLF was a key ally of China and had received billions of dollars of loans and investment. After countless protests and a state of emergency Ethiopia decided it was time for a new leader, the former PM resigned. Ethiopia then selected the former head of intelligence Abiy Ahmed as its new Prime Minister. Abiy Ahmed did not come to power by luck, everything was pre planned.

When Abiy Ahmed came to power he made drastic changes. He handed back to land Ethiopia had been occupying from Eritrea for almost 20 years. He made peace with Eritrea and restored full diplomatic relations as well as opening embassies. This was the beginning of the pro western new Ethiopia. Ethiopian was suffering from low levels of foreign currency. So the UAE paid $1 billion straight to Ethiopia and pledged another $2 billion in investments.

US did not want to control Eritrea and Ethiopia only it wanted to control the entire Horn of Africa. USA got UAE to lease more ports in the Horn to stop future Chinese influence. Even though UAE did not need to invest in these ports it agreed along and wanted Dubai to still be the number 1 port in the surrounding areas. UAE got a 30 year lease in the port of berbera, somaliland using its flagship company DP world. UAE also got a long term lease on boosaso port in Puntland somalia, this time it used its smaller company P&O ferries. UAE also decided to build another military base in berbera, somaliland which is still under construction.

UAE and Saudi Arabia had their other agenda for the Horn of Africa which was to counter Qatari influence in the region. Somalia remained neutral in the gulf crisis. This angered Saudi Arabia and UAE which wanted support from Somalia. UAE decided to bribe some politicians in Somalia. A plane carrying $10 million in cash flew from Abu Dhabi with UAE ambassador to Somalia. Somalia airport officials checked the flight, they found the suitcases full of cash and confiscated the money.

Somalia and UAE fell out, US had to come up with something. So the US got Abiy Ahmed to form close relationships with somalia, he made a short visit to the capital Mogadishu. Abiy Ahmed made a deal with somalia President farmajo. He said to farmajo I will respect your sovereignty and would not meet with other Somali leaders such as Somaliland if you cooperate. Farmajo who is also a US citizen and claims to be president of Somalia, which he also claims somaliland agreed along.

Now that somalia was on board, it was time to get Djibouti to abandon China. Djibouti played a long game with its neighbours. Finally it agreed with Saudi Arabia to make peace with its neighbour Eritrea. Djibouti and Eritrea made peace, but Djibouti remained cautious. On 14/11/18 the US decided to lift sanctions of Eritrea and end arms embargo for cooperating with USA and its allies. Next step is for somalia, Ethiopia and Eritrea to have a meeting in Somalia. They hope to have Djibouti present in the meeting and end Chinese influence in the region. Djibouti seems to be playing hard to get.

Ethiopia has its plans of turning Ethiopia into a capitalist pro western nation. It’s currently planning of privatisating several state owned companies such as telecommunications. It wants to stop relying on Djibouti as its main port, it wants to create competition and lower port changes. It agreed with somalia to use 4 ports, port Sudan, Lemu in Kenya. Ethiopia is also trying to democratise which the US ordered. 50% of the new cabinet ministers are women. It’s been proposed to have general elections in 2020.

As for the US it’s long term target is to have total control of Horn of Africa. It also wants to stop Chinese influence in the region and protect trade. US played it smart so far it did not use guns or invade any country, it just used diplomacy. If they manage to bring Djibouti they have achieved their goal. For the time being it will try and bring djibouti in. The US has several soldiers present in the Horn of Africa. It has its biggest military base in Africa located at Djibouti, it has smaller bases in Somalia. Now that gas has been found in Ethiopia, which might have small reserves of oil. Somalia and somaliland also have good potential to start drilling oil by as early as late 2019. The USA is more interested than ever to control the entire region. Wherever there is oil the US is mostly present.

Mattis 'Heartened' After Attending Somalia Meeting in London

May 12, 2017
News
By Jim Garamone
DoD News, Defense Media Activity
WASHINGTON --
Defense Secretary Jim Mattis came away from yesterday’s British-sponsored conference on Somalia in London with renewed hope for the peace process in the African nation.

Defense Secretary Jim Mattis briefs reporters aboard his aircraft on its flight back to Washington, D.C., following the secretary’s participation in a conference on Somalia in London, May 11, 2017. DoD photo by Air Force Staff Sgt. Jette Carr

Mattis told reporters flying with him back to Washington, that he had a private meeting with Somali President Mohamed Abdullah Mohamed, “and I came away from that heartened.”

The United States has a role to play in Somalia, and in helping that nation eradicate al-Shabaab, a vicious terror group, Mattis said. The United Nations, the African Union and the European Union joined with Arab, African and European nations to discuss the way forward.

International Support for Somalia

Mattis said Somalia has an economic and a governmental program to put it back on its feet, and that international support is crucial to the process.

“So, we were working on how the future looks and what nations could commit what to what and get the framework right,” Mattis said. “It includes on the security side both a continued maturation of their security forces in the defenses against al-Shabaab, but it also includes a reconciliation program designed to pull the fence-sitters and the middle-of-the-roaders away from al-Shabaab. It's very well put together.”

The holistic approach to the situation in Somalia is the one that has a chance of succeeding, Mattis said.

There is certainly an attitude of renewed hope based on the election of what appears to be a very good leader in terms of understanding the need for military security, but as well economic efforts, and certainly reconciliation is going to have to mark this way forward, as well,” he said.

Confronting Terrorism

Mattis praised the African Union peacekeeping mission in Somalia, saying the African Union Mission in Somalia troops have done a good job in a difficult position.

“For years, AMISOM and the Somali soldiers have fought against a pretty tough enemy that has sworn allegiance … to al-Qaida,” Mattis said. “It’s an enemy that's got to be fought and the people have to be defended.”

Did you not read the title of the thread mr low IQ boon. Of course USA is the puppet master. However your wrong about the UAE and Saudi Arabia not having any influence or power in the region. They got a lot of power and influence, although a lot of the time they are influenced by USA to the the dirty work on their behalf. However Saudi and UAE both have their own interest. For example the UAE wants to control gulf of Aden and Red Sea. Your paper government couldn’t do nothing to stop it. Now they are crying to U.N. about the military base.
