President Farmajo has appointed a youthful Odowaa Yusuf as the commander of the Somalia National Army. This is the latest appointment in the last 22 months in which he has been moved to senior positions within the military.

His appointment makes him the youngest ever commander in the military at just 32, having been born in 1987.

When Siad Barre regime fell, he was just 3 years old. He was born in in Aadan Yabaal District in Middle shabelle region.

Between 2002-2005 he attended his secondary education in Mogadishu after which he joined the army in 2007. He attended military training in Uganda for one year where he underwent studies in VIP protection. He later became and instructor to new recruits sent to Uganda.

In 2009, he went to Sudan for further training . A year later he retuned home as a one-star general and attended a 45 day seminar at Haama dhowr school in Mogadishu.

He later became the deputy leader of the Villa Somalia Protection Unit later rising to be the leader of the unit. This close proximity to the presidency must have endeared him to the center of power.

In 2013, he was once again sent for training in Turkey in what was deemed to be the highest training in the military ranks. He returned to several promotions and postings. In 2014, he retuned to the Turkish Army War Collage where he stayed till 2016.

It is upon his return that he was was appointed as the comander of the Villa Somalia Protection unit of the 60 division. In 2018 he was appointed as the general comander of division 60 that protects the state house.

Yeah the guy has been active in SNA since AY's Baidoa era. He has participated in all the wars with Al shabab. He was even fighting in the front in LS with regular askari's few weeks ago.All the soldiers love him.

I like the fact that he went to school, learned military officer type training and rose up like that. I wouldn’t be surprised if all these years promotions happened based on who showed the most skills operating the Cabdi Bille :whoa:

I'm normally very suspicious of southern sna....they are mostly clan militias masquerading as an army.

The "sna" has spent Most of its time slaughtering and ethnically cleansing Bantu in M Shabelle, Dir in Hiiraan and Biimaal in L.Shabelle.

Was thid fellow involved in any of these atrocities? :notsure:

We should be more suspicious of ones that get used by others for killing, whether its' Kacaan, PL or SL. Sadly they mostly are used to fight each other.

OD, if what you are saying about the so called ‘SNA’ is true, may they never succeed with their goals, and hope for their demise.

I have been hearing same sentiments off and on about the ‘SNA’ since I signed up here 5 years ago. We know the capital belongs to ree unakaleh, now the army, too.

War Jubboyinka qostay, Idoors have my blessings to secede as well. Fked up land is what’s left over of erstwhile Somali Republic.
