Faqash revisionism again. Some people just never learn. Not only are they wasting resources but they also want us to believe only they are wadani.

What about Hassan Barsane?( Gaaljecel) What about Nasiib buundo? (Jareerweyn)What about Hassan Geedi Abtow?(Abgaal) What about Sheikh Abdi Abikar Gaafle (biimaal)who led the biimaal revolt?what about Sheikh Axmed Gabyoow who fought the italians in Warsheekh and Cadale?

:comeon: xaawo taako kulaha, a woman who supported the italians who who was even married to a italian. SAyid siigeyste who was the Godane of that era. Axmed gurey was not even somali.

Last, sanams is haram.
Asnaam is xalaal today... this is going to make Mogadishu heat up little more, we need this sort of things, people will wake up stronger than ever now.

Trust me xamar is already tense tonight after Sheikh Soomow being harrassed by police and also the killing of AUN taliye Maxaadeey saleebaan who was killed together with his staff by the internal security's staff outside Hotel Naasa hablood 2.

War is imminent. Gov seem to punish Agoonyar subclan.Because of sheikh Shariif.

Explain how xaawo taako was a Somali hero , when she was a the wife of an Italian hauler, even that conflict she was involved happened between the British authority and the italian residents. It was not a Somali war. You daaroods reached to the point you glorify your daarood biitchs as national warriors. Shame on you. There are real national Somali heroes from koonfur who fought against the italians.

theyuusuf143,

Ooyhinta dhaaf. If they’re not your heros, they are SomLi’s heroes. Don’t come to Xamar if you don’t like seeing them.

1. Somalia is not a theocratic state. Somalia is a country whose people are mostly Muslim but it is a secular state where laws are made by an elected parliament not a religious council.

In my opinion, Somalia should be defined as a strictly "secular" state.

Ku lahaa taalo is haram. Keep that in your livings rooms.

2. Xaawo Taako and Dhagaxtuur are fictional characters. The fact that anyone subscribes a story to them is merely a reflection of the fact Somalis are third world, illiterate people.

Xaawo Taako and Dhagaxtuur were both figments of Warsame Indhool's imagination. Warsame Indhool (Marehan/rer Kooshin) is the man who came up with the idea of Bar ama Baro Literacy Campaign and many other civiliIng schemes.

According to his direct vision, Xaawo Taako was supposed to be Somalia's ode to feminism and to the power of the Somali woman and Dhagaxtuur was supposed to be a Somalia's ode to the liberation struggle.

Xaawo Taako represents every Somali woman and Dhagax Tuur represents every Somali man.

3. The only statue with an actual history/character is the Sayid. Forget Somalia, the Sayid was one of the preeminent African and Muslim fights against colonialism.

Why didn't Siad Barre build a taalo for Shire Jama who led the Marehan during the British revolt?

You guys are bringing up people no one even wrote much about while Shire Jama waa debated in the British parliament!

Siad did not. He only built a taalo for the preeminent anti-colonial leader namely the Sayid.

The rest of the status, are again, fictional meant to represent all the Somali people.

It's like Daljirka Dahsoon (Tomb of the Unknown Warrior) who represents every armed Somali

4. Why does everything have to have been built by Siad? Why don't you lobby your government to build what you want now??

Voltage makes more sense. Xaawo taako is fictional character. But again it's claimed by some people as real person from the absame clan.

The story I have always heard was that Dhagaxtuur and Xaawo Taako are fictional characters. Imagine how surprised I was when I saw people claiming her. I don't think that issue is exclusive to daroods though.

This is exactly how false "mythologies" build up in oral, illiterate societies like us.

Xaawo Taako, Dhagax Tuur, and Daljirka Dahsoon were all the brainchild of Warsame Indhool (really just a remarkable man who even though blind was one of the most hardworking and respected members of the Barre govt).

His crowning achievement was the Bar ama Baro literacy campaign.

With the 3 monuments he explained it this way;

1. Xaawo Taako was an ode to feminism and celebrating the Somali woman
2. Dhagax Tuur was an ode to the pan-African liberation struggle and represented every Somali man
3. Daljirka Dahsoon was the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and represented every Somali person in the armed forces

Most Somalis wouldn't even know what Daljirka dahaoon is because unlike the others a fake tribal mythology couldn't surround it's generic name

Khalid,

The man who came up with them died in Minnesota not too long ago. Somali waa badow caadi aha whether Dir ama Darod ama inta kalaba

Somalis will tell you a mythical 13 boys got their independence from Italy even though Italy lost WWII and Somalia from 1945 onwards was a UN Trusteeship.

The day of Somalia's independence was set by the UN a decade in advance and Italy was only brought back as the defeated colonial power to simply prepare Somalia for independence.

Literally the SYL was part of the exercise in party politics which Italy was brought back to prepare Somalia for independence!

The only relevance to SYL was advocating for pan-Somalism and just how many constituent territories Somalia would include at independence.

They had NOTHING to do with the date of independence or how it was gotten.

Dadkeena waa cajiib

How come no one said we can't build a struggle pan Somalism based on a false mythology. 3 out of the 5 monuments are fictional and one was not even a Somali but an hararian walashmiyan jihadi Ahmed Al ghazi . The only Somali is the mad mullah very controversial character. And even sayid siigeyste raids were only in Somaliland 85 percent the dervishes led only 2 incursions into Italian Somalia. How ever that tells you Italian Somalia had either no anti colonial heros. Or their hero's history is buried real deep.

They are not "fictional." They were never meant to tell a particular story so they can't be fictional.

They are meant to REPRESENT something.

It's like the Statue of Liberty in New York.

She isn't "fictional" because she was never meant to tell a particular story.

She REPRESENTS something; freedom.
