The question is does the Sayid even belong to you???

Sure by clan he was Ogaden, but the bulk of his soldiers were Dhulbahante and the entirety of his campaign was waged between Laas Caanood and Burco.

There is nothing to "appease" Ogaadeen by since this isn't even primarily your history.

1. Somalia is not a theocratic state. Somalia is a country whose people are mostly Muslim but it is a secular state where laws are made by an elected parliament not a religious council.

In my opinion, Somalia should be defined as a strictly "secular" state.

Ku lahaa taalo is haram. Keep that in your livings rooms.

That maybe what you like, and what you want to happen, but the constitution of Somalia seems to be very clear that the country will be run according to Islamic law and values.

That's salad dressing Shirib. Let's not over simplify things when the only purpose of even having that clause since 1960 is just to speak to the "character" of the nation.

Also, in hindsight, it may seem like I was individually targeting you but it was a general statement since I have seen a number of people bring up Islam since the statues were renovated. They are talking to the wrong person since I believe all Islamists should be barred from government and Somalia strictly defined as a secular state.

So voltage you would never support an Islamic party to be part of the nation. I don't think people in Somalia like cilmaani secularism.. You will find allot of enemies. I am just being a radical. Even if Somalia is already a secular state (which it is), I would never advocate changing Islam is the state religion clause precisely for the reasons you outlined; namely we are very surface and highly emotional.

They can have a brothel in front of Villa Somalia and these people will wink and snicker but soon as they hear a symbolic clause was changed about religion, Al Shabaab will take over the entire country based on all the people running to join them.

We have seen Islamic parties and cliques and they make Somali tribes look unified.

Even within the same madhab, these people divided into Al Itihad, Al Islah, Ala Sheekh, Dam Jadeed, Al fujuuj, Al fajaaj.

They do not want to allow anyone else to rule and neither will they allow any among them to rule.

No religious parties although there obviously can be more traditionally conservative parties.

I don't find that to surface or highly emotional, that's actually a very good trait to have. You should always have and hold higher principles even if you're not able to live up to them.

And this is much bigger than this thread and don't really have the time to discuss it all in detail, but I know you're a really smart guy and challenge you to think outside of the box a little on this. Liberal secularism is dying, it's on it's last heals, and you can see it all around you. When it's dying in the west, where it was founded, why would you want to impose it on to a country like Somalia, that doesn't even have the economic resources to let that flourish.
