Hold we just had a report from Norway.....stipulating that they would clear Somalia's debt at the IMF....but would then hold a new Somali debt.

This is a game......the WB/IMF never want debter nations to be debt free.....that is the point....they use the leverage over debter countries to basically strip and plunder their resources.

Whst we are witnessing is creative accounting....where debts ate erased from one ledger then entered into another.

However, as this is Somalia just to be in the room with these sharks is a come up. :)

Something doesn't feel right about the way they are approaching this whole debt relief thing. :|

Tbh I’m not comfortable either but not sure how much other options we have. With many of the debt relief institutions whether IMF, World Bank, or loan sharks like China. Alhamdulilah at least unlike other African nations we avoided the China disaster.

Ultimately I think the thinking of N&N is the dividends from future petroleum, port development, etc will exceed faster than the borrowed loans. Its no wonder why the Petroleum law, oil auctions, Kenya case were the first priorities of this Gov.

That's everybody's position when they take out loans.
Hoping to accrue faster gains to pay down the debt.
However, history shows that rarely happens....from individuals to countries.......the debt trap is real.
As you say Somalia has few options.

From a resource, minerals, deposits, enormous coastline, marine resources, strategic location, oil reserves etc perspective Somalia unlike a lot of places has the Allah given resources to justify that approach. Considering our crab bucket mentality, Reer baadiyenimo I’m afraid we’d more go the route of South Sudan in just wasting what you have, and accruing debt for nothing. Although I’m a supporter of Federalism this is one of the reasons whether Farmaajo or any future President it is good the FGS from now on is in charge of these type of discussions. Not because it is impossible they don’t make disastrous decisions but it will be 100x worse if these world financial institutions deal with 50 regional figures seperately.

Maybe.......but Somalia is still not fit for purpose in my opinion.

As a precursor to any development they have to smoke out the AS terrorists.......nothing will progress without solving the security problems.

Then you know they're a million miles from defeating AS.
The political class is a joke....90% of them wouldn't be able to get a cleaning job or loan in the west.

You should watch the video of how the Tamil Tigers were defeated.

These mfs were once on a par with govt forces....they even had planes.

However, the govt slowly reduced the area where they could operate.....maximum pressure wad applied continuously until they had them cornered.

Then they were totally anihilated.

Well that’s why you have to start somewhere. The popular sentiment I see around Somalis is either I will be 100% in or will work overtime to try to destroy something. Take the Gov of MSB AUN. Were things Governance wise falling off the rails late ‘80s onwards? You bet. Was any effort put in, forming a real robust opposition with a vision and consensus from Somalis? Hell no, it was we’ll destroy it then F it chaos.

Take N&N. These mucaarad politicians I don’t see any sort of strategizing, alternate vision, real plan other then we’ll try to take down this Government before 2021. First of all they won’t but thats not the actual problem. The problem is instead of either assisting the Gov, or spending time planning a real vision for next elections 2021, you spend all of it whining and moaning. Of a new Gov comes 2021 they start over, then the same exact shyt happens again another 5 years.

You might ask how does all of this relate to the discussion? Because this crab bucket mentality by everybody is what keeps all hands on deck from tackling the major goals i.e, tackling Al Shaydaan, debt relief, development, etc
