We are witnessing the beginning of the end of federalism

Postby Polus » Wed Mar 18, 2020 8:16 pm

I would even wager we are witnessing the final ending of Puntland's version of federalism. The consultation conference ended in massive failure as the PL elders and FSG guest left in disgust during the third day.

It seems their aran jaans secession agenda was not even consulted to their own elders.

Lets be frank, for the first time since siad barre, marexan are strong players in Somalias political scene.

Although farmajo is a bit weak for my liking, we have totally trashed this fake darod unity and finally realised we are SOUTHERNERS, we can only relate and cooperate with those whom we share the right mentality for centralism, not some jeberti alliance.

Charcoal uncle in kismayo will be ousted soon, then we can finally reform puntland to include rahanweyn and even marexan. Majerten will never share a table with us again, they are the new isaaq. The old isaaq deserves an apology, you are not midgaans like mj lol

Any political scientist would NOT consider Puntland a federal state but a separatist state arguing for balkanization, Somalida si qalad ayee u fahmey federalism mainly due to the fact that they are taught by Reer Baadiyo dhaboyaco, Federalism in its real sense is what Somalia needs, we are against balkanization not federalism.

A centralist state gives too much power and responsibility to Mogadishu, this is not going to be the future, devolution is the future, however it will happen at different rates depending on the specific federal state in question, and it will happen organically with limits, the SFG will always have roles in terms of enforcing the borders, foreign affairs, military etc but it will give responsibility to federal states which they can handle and cope with at a time when they mature enough to take roles upon themselves that the SFG currently fulfill.

I do not subscribe to this as a Marehan.

If reer Bay and Bakool (starting from precolonialism) conceived Federalism, Puntland birthed it.

The people of Puntland are FIRST among equals for the self directed organization, stabilization, and progress they heralded it.

Deni does not represent the people of Puntland as we see from those the Bosado school children most recently and in my opinion, Farmaajo and gov should compete DIRECTLY with the hearts and minds of the people there

Federalism is ethiopian introduced concept. Puntland did not birth it and Puntland will not adhere to it either. They want to act like a republic under the current federal structure i.e special status. I think Somalia must have a real discussion on federalism. Most Somalis dont even understand it and that proves further that its foreign imposed.

Forget about dissolving puntland you can't even convince them to give up the occupied territory of nothern mudug. If you can't protect the territorial intigrity of galmudug then you are nothing and can't do any thing to puntland. Even in the colonial Era the mejerten has always been self governing . I don't think they will bow down for a boon. It's not in their DNA
