ONLF

Postby guhad122 » Fri Mar 20, 2020 6:34 pm

What is going with ONLF these days? I have always given them the benefit of the doubt and while I have never been a member, I have defended struggle and considered it as the only genuine body to bring freedom to the region. What is now in the open is that they were never ready to take the leadership role of the Somali region. It is a bit frustrating that the long struggle would come down to this. I anticipate that some of you especially the OG members will fault me for bringing this into the open forum, but let me tell you this, their squabbling is in the open for everyone to see. It is everywhere. In today’s social media dominated media, nothing in Somali politics can stay in clandestine. This whole saga started during that Godey conference where Maadey was elected as the chair. I don’t know Maadey that well, but the few times I saw him in person, he looked very approachable and thoughtful individual. What happened? And please note that by having these discussions in public forums, we will garner the opinions of both friends and foes, which could be very useful!

Sounds like mission creep. They lost direct purpose. At that point either serious organic reinvention happens or it becomes a legacy bloat. The only option may be to let it die

Think of NAACP.

Guhad,

Excuse my ignorance but are you Reer Isaaq? Btw, Shilaabo is where my Grandparents came from and I have family there to this day. I know a lot of the dynamics but don’t want to play the role of shaydaanimo iskudir.
