Do you remember the Galmudug Elections and how prepared the US was to forcefully back Farmajo and weather the sharp attacks from what became the Madasha group?

At this point sxb, it is not even about the Elections anymore.

The US went through a decision making process to back Farmaajo's vision for Somalia and the vulnerability that Deni and Madoobe have exposed about the system has only strengthened the US resolve in that decision.

They will be 10X more supportive of Farmajo in his 2nd term.

I have just stumbled to this.

The ignorance astounds me. Every single Ambassador turns in a "resignation letter" on the last day of office of the President they are currently serving under.

However, by custom, every Ambassador continues to serve in that role already tenured resignation until the new Presiden either renames or replaces them.

1. f the Ambassador was a political appointeee (Ambassador to Canada or Great Britain or China) they are replaced immediately. In fact, they actually leave the post the day the former President leaves office barring some extenuating circumstances. The 2nd in command is temporary envoy.
2. If the Ambassador is a career appointee from State Department they keep serving in their role until decision is made.
3. If the Ambassador is a creer appointee AND represents State Department INSTITUTIONALLY (like Yamamoto) not only do they keep serving but most often they continue to function as if they will be renamed---the more delicate the file and the more the State Department had a hand in the original appointment of the ambassador (represents institutional US Foreign policy rather than being a poltiical appointee representing the views of White House at that moment) the more likely it is the new Administration will in fact rename them.

But they are all "outgoing/former" from the day the previous President leaves office until thr new President replaces or reappoints.

That takes a long time from thr millions of things thr new US President has to administratively do
