Clan alliances between the gluf states
The Tribal Sheiks in the persian Gulf are different than the Somali Garaads or Ugaases they r the ruling Sultans who operate as authority figures with power and represent the regime while there has been no Islamic state in Somalia throughout history instead we r a pastoral community that does not know a system of government. There is another difference but some Somali clans and tribes knew this type of dealings which is dealing with the colonial countries that recognized them as protectorates but the Arab tribes are more than a century and a half older than the Somali ones since the seventeenth century when they started to deviate from the obedience of the Ottomans. Among them are the Najdi tribes from northern Saudi Arabia in which the capital of Riyadh is located and the Wahabi movement also emerged from it. They allied themselvies with the Europeans against the Ottomans and the tribe of Banu Khaled that was running the Northern and Eastern parts of the Arabian Peninsula such as northern Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar and Bahrain on behalf of the Ottomans. so Kuwait and Bahrain rulers origins are from Najd from the عتبه tribe who came to power in their countries with the help of the Saudi family so you find a special relationship between these three countries to the point that Saudi Arabia annexed Bahrain to protect the ruling family from Its Ajami and Persian origin people who follow the Shiite sect.
The Saudi Arabia’s historical regional competitor was the Emirates not Qatar as is happening now. The UAE is made up of seven Arab sheikhdoms and was trying to include Qatar and Bahrain to be the 8 and 9 Emirates under Sheikh Zayed especially Qatar to be the eighth Emirate because there are tribal societies on the borders of Qatar with Saudi Arabia that r claimed by the UAE so the latter tried to build a sea bridge between it and Qatar but Saudi Arabia prevented it at a time when the UAE was in a weak position in the seventies saying that these marine waters belong to Saudi Arabia. When the Europeans arrived in the region, Abu Dhabi and Dubai were ruled by one family but they became two separate branches the al Nahyan and ala maktoum ruling families of Abu dhabi and Dubai

Dubai and abudhabi tribe. These two have the right to veto any national policy so if they don't agree to anything, it will not be passed on.

wahabi Ala sheekh and the the ruling qatari family tribe. There is a tribal overlap between Qatar and Saudi Arabia while the Bani Tamim tribe rules Qatar it was historically allied with the Saud family and manages religious affairs such as the religious police and the Scholars Council such led by Muhammad bin Al-Uthaimin who are the grandson of Muhammad Abdul-Wahhab so Qatar supported their largest branch and the mother the Banin Tamim of Saudi Arabia while Saudi Arabia supported the second largest tribe in Qatar that dwell in the border between the two countries, so that two are playing with fire

Re: Clan alliances between the gluf states
Somalis, due to acquiring so much wealth and being stubbornly hard-headed, have never thought of the idea of uniting under one state (until recently), because they thought it was unnecessary. It's quite obvious why they would have a significant difference in alliances, because they do not view each other as one.
Great find, btw.

Somalis are like Arabs, some similarities in languages and religions but deep down they are different groups of people so they can’t be one nation or state.Miscellaneous wrote: Sat Apr 03, 2021 9:07 pm Somalis, due to acquiring so much wealth and being stubbornly hard-headed, have never thought of the idea of uniting under one state (until recently), because they thought it was unnecessary. "The Trucial States Council was a forum for the leaders of the emirates to meet, presided over by the British Political Agent. The first meetings took place in 1952"
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trucial_States
"each emirate reserves considerable powers, including control over mineral rights (notably oil) and revenues. In this milieu, federal powers have developed slowly as each Emirate already had its own existing institutions of government prior to the country's official foundation"
"The UAE consists of seven emirates and was founded on 2 December 1971 as a federation. Six of the seven emirates (Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah) combined on that date. The seventh, Ras al Khaimah, joined the federation on 10 February 1972"
only Abu dhabi 1960
now 7
this is like Galkacyo wich divides Mj and HG but look how different they look
the Emirate that no longer rely on oil

the US army is keeping them from killing each other

Gulf Tribes are going extinct alot of cities, park and gardens, companies and national instititions have been built in their lands. this tribe is going extinct soon they dwell between Saudi and Jordan. they use tribe only for formalities these days but unlike us the person will carry the name of his tribe as his surname but no more tribal landsSunFromNorth wrote: Sun Apr 04, 2021 6:13 am But Sahal if the Gulf states did not have the wealth there will be clan wars and failed nations right ? even now in Kuwait the Sunni and Shia are hating on each other in the parliament

Gulf arabs are very interesting in the Somali sea and indian ocean and socotra island bc Iran controls
hormuz strait and Bab al mandab strait from the Yemen side. they said fuck yemen let us annex hadramout and socotra this is why UAE is occupying the Island for trade purposes.

Sahal what happened to the Large Somali Expat community of the 1980s UAE ? they are gone now
Re: Clan alliances between the gluf states
This is so stupid I can't even wrap my head around it, the German clans always ruled as kingdom (sultunate) states until Bismark united them and were known as the poets of Europe, sound familiar?mahoka wrote: Sat Apr 03, 2021 11:45 pmSomalis are like Arabs, some similarities in languages and religions but deep down they are different groups of people so they can’t be one nation or state.Miscellaneous wrote: Sat Apr 03, 2021 9:07 pm Somalis, due to acquiring so much wealth and being stubbornly hard-headed, have never thought of the idea of uniting under one state (until recently), because they thought it was unnecessary. All these nations when looking at it from world history are recent and started as a 'game of thrones' so to speak. U.S and Australia started off as states, Canada provinces, Europe cities etc Japan itself is another perfect example, 100 years of clan wars and now look at them today, you would never think these are the same people that would skin children from a rivaling clan alive.
It's simple, constant war will always lead to unity and innovation or at the very least mutual understanding, and mutual understanding = POLITICAL MATURITY, something Somalis LACK. As Somalis we were about to have our 'game of thrones' moment, Dir (Biimaal) were in the makings of establishing another sultunate and making huge progress in engineering before the Italians dismantled it by force, darood were more than likely to merge as a kingdom (Ogadeniya, Juba and Majeerteeniya combined into one state) and expand as far as Mt Kilimanjaro, Isaaq could have been living in Eritrea today but colonisation promptly put a stop to all that.
I've always maintained that colonisation saved east Africa from Somali expansion, these Africans should be thanking these cadaans for saving them. As for Somali unification, never say never. The old guard are already on their deathbeds and croaking daily, too many people have seen what these so called qabiil proponents have achieved, nothing but destruction and shame, maybe not now it's not possible but it is INEVITABLE.
Re: Clan alliances between the gluf states
majority of the old folks are isaaqs who r concentrated in Sharja and Ras al Khaimah who r ruled by Al qasimi Family. Al Qasimi are originally from Oman and established themselves as Sharifs who have the right to rule the local people but the Sultan of Oman waged war against them so Al qawasim asked Somalis help and started recruting them as soldiers. The ruler of Sharjah is a down to earth educated and historian pro sharia and he resisted normalizing with Israel.SunFromNorth wrote: Sun Apr 04, 2021 10:12 am Sahal what happened to the Large Somali Expat community of the 1980s UAE ? they are gone now

Re: Clan alliances between the gluf states
For someone who lives in the Gulf most of the year, Somalia are nothing like Gulf Arabs. I like to consider myself as very observant so this is what I notice:
-Due to severely harsh climate, little rain, shortness of livestock they always had less appetite for war, anarchy, unlike Somalis who are blessed with good land, that allows them the kibir to fight over little stuff. You’ll be in a whole Khutbah there talking about conserving water. Even with the Ottomons many Gulf tribes were reluctant to fight, the Britts had to use a lot or effort orchestrating.
-Gulf Arabs are more degan, less feisty, than Somalia, but on the flipside have way less pride than Somalis. A Somali who is about to die if hunger, will look at a Gaal like ‘yaa tahay adiga’ while Gulf Arabs will literally worship them. This is a very unique trait of Somalis that I find extremely fascinating. I think it’s because Somalis Historically were a very closed society who didn’t deal with outsiders. They have a lot of pride that when you channel it the right way they could do amazing things. A nation like Somalia of 8 million was minutes from capturing Addis Ababa, the capital of a nation of like a hundred million. Even today after decades of lawlessness, Somalis are going tit for tat with Kenya at the courts.
-Again due to living in very rough conditions, they have more of a culture of obeying a king, ruler, etc, and war is a last result. In all Gulf countries they make Dua for the ruler ‘اللهم وفق ولي عهـدنا إلي ما تحب و ترضي، اللهم البسه لباس الصحة و العافية' etc
Somalis are way more likely to inkaar a ruler nacalaa hebel

Woow interesting we Somalis were even dealing with Omanis both in independence wars and business, the Omanis I have meet were wonderful elderly men they seem like the Arabs that loves Somalis most. Yeah the Gulf is rich but a small poor Eastern European nation like Latvia is way more sophisticated regarding Ethnic Nationalism, loyalty towards the state, educated people, political ideologies. Horta how come Saudis are such evil people ? its the only Arab nation where Somalis are beaten by their boss.
