I don’t mind moving the capital. If Mogadishu can’t be secured, it doesn’t have to be Garowe, it can be any small town like Afgooye, Baraawe.

Changing the capital would cause more internal rifts and more conflicts, as much as I would want that to occur.

Let’s just leave to Xamar. Many are used to it anyways, and it’s the largest city in Somalia/Somaliweyn.

If my current analysis are correct I expect both Galmudug and Puntland to fall to Al-shabaab within 5-10 years. Somaliland will fall within 15 years.

The issue is not where the capital city is located rather it is, if collective intelligence of a given group can save the day. Case in point, Puntland spending better part of last two decades fighting against existence of Galmudug but when the threats of the radicals are at its doorsteps is begging Galmudug(sacads) for an alliance against radicals. It commendable to work against a common existential enemy but where was this thinking 10-15 years ago when a real difference could have been made.

The biggest weakness of Somalilanders is also thinking that their security lies within and around their borders. How long can geography work in one's favor? Galmudug has always served as security wall for both Puntland and Somaliland for mere geographic reasons, however, Galmudug's institutional weakness coupled with the lack of strategic thinking on the part of Hargeisa and Garowe will eventually bring down all three states.
