President Ali Mahdi was elected and recognized as a legitimate president of the Somali Republic by fellow groups on november 10 1991 :

The Abgaal wing of the USC

SNF -Marehan

SPM -Ogaden the 'Gabyow' wing of the party

SSDF - Majeteein

USP - Dulbahnate-Warsangali

SDA - Gadabursi

It was the most mature moment in the Somali Civil war when war tired groups recognized that USC had won the war and elected Ali Mahdi as the new national leader, at the end of November month General Aideed refused to accept the New President and a horrific war broke out that burned Benadir down to the ground ruining the newborn government that was accepted 11 months after anarchy broke out in Somalia
