It appears Garacad port would have the advantage of starting business ahead of Berbera port (a minimum of 5 years before its construction is completed). With plans to expand its size in a few years, Garacad port (possibly along with Bossaso port) could become a serious competitor to Berbera's. The lesson is, you don't need mega projects that require $billions, decades of construction, on top of being owned by foreign companies/states, and the possibility of abandoning it due to cost overruns (as happened to many mega projects); you only need an easily manageable, smart hybrid & expandable port like Garacad's. Nonetheless, competition is good for the consumer.
There is enough business for both ports. The bigger story is how the project was built by mostly local and diaspora funding. That’s why I believe Somalia needs less government and not more. Look at the so called FGS, HSM has setup a mafia operation he calls government with envoys, state ministers, ministers and deputy ministers who do absolutely nothing but steal donor aid.

This ‘port’ aka jetty in garacad was built to take business away from bosaso. Reer bosaso were not happy with the puntland state’s deal with P&O ports and refused to allow corrupt development- garowe/qardho community said we can punish reer bosaso/bari via this project
Why are hutu’s and qaldaans so bitter about this project? The people of PL said we will build this project with our money and sweat and without aid or government handouts. Don’t be a xaasid and take notes sxb.

This is a great achievement for localised development.
The people should be congratulated for all their endeavours.

My only concern is that the port will be mainly importing.
Somalia needs to develop its internal/ domestic markets.
I would love to see hydrology projects where deep aquifers can be located and exploited to develop the nascent agriculture sector.

Why do you call Maydh a port and Garacad a jetty?
It's clear from the pictures and videos which is a port and which is a jetty.

Stop acting so feminine and stand your ground and explain/debate instead of crying about others asking questions. Everyone here talks about all somali regions.

Mashallah for the development but you and I and everyone else knows that relations between bosaso(bari) and garowe/qardho has been very bad in the last few years and this jetty port was built to take away business from bosaso since some puntlanders will switch to the new jetty port.

The important question is why isn’t bosaso port being developed? Have the mj lied about having a deal with P&O ports?

Interesting for you to bring up berbera several times in this discussion and not any other port (Mogadishu/hobyo/kismayo)

You must grow up and stop the tribalism, you have been the same for the last two decades you have been on this forum with zero growth in mindset. You are too angry for a guy in his mid/late 30s, you still have the tribalist mindset of young teens learning about qabiil.

I don't hate anybody let alone Somalis.
Rather I hate ignorant mindsets and mentalities.

It's just cumar maxamuud project to stay away from the reer bari. While any infrastructure brings some benefits , this will definitely compete against boosaaso only, for the majeerten market. Because there won't be any south central market after galmudug finishes it's grand hobyo project. The small jetty we build in maydh , sanaag may also significantly reduce the Eastern sanaag market . Because it can handle all kinds of bagaash.
What a laangaab hater. This is a project that should be applauded by everyone! Ma Shaa Allah

Indeed, this guy is harti yaryar and has immense hate for majeerten and ogaden but loves dhulo/mareexan- he tried to pretend to be Hj but no hj hates puntland while also loving dhulo/mx lol

You are here like naag maseersan calling the port a jetty, what’s more feminine than that. Why do you care about the relations between bossaso and garacad? The investors for Garacad are from all over PL and the PL government as well.

Long term both Bossasso and Garacad will thrive.

If I were you I would be more worried where SL is heading given the dictatorship there and the jeegaan elites stealing all of the meagre resources of waqooyi galbeed.

As long as its not a major or minor challenger against berbera or hobyo I don't care. All I care about is berbera and secondly hobyo .

You are too emotional for a simple discussion

I am happy for you guys, I am just asking why bosaso hasn’t been developed even though a deal was signed with P&O ports? What’s the reason?

About jeegan, that’s up to the voters since we got elections in Somaliland rather than selections in your nation of Somalia lol

Biixi will go tomorrow and won’t try to cling to power like faroole and co lol - faroole and his juffo are spreading anti yoga deni. Garowe online is indeed entertaining
