Phase 1 will be finished soon. The port will benefit all of Somalia and Somalia region in Ethiopia but especially reer mudug. Somalia needs more of the private public partnership projects. Bossasso port has been destroyed by government corruption and it’s better to let private sector take the lead on big infrastructure projects.

Garbage, it is Hobyo that will be the most important port for all of your country Somalia (former Italian colony) after Mogadishu of course. No doubt once Hobyo gets going into a first class port and North Mudug is liberated, Galmudug will be the best and leading regional state in Somalia

It's just cumar maxamuud project to stay away from the reer bari. While any infrastructure brings some benefits , this will definitely compete against boosaaso only, for the majeerten market. Because there won't be any south central market after galmudug finishes it's grand hobyo project. The small jetty we build in maydh , sanaag may also significantly reduce the Eastern sanaag market . Because it can handle all kinds of bagaash.

Idoor please spare me your delusions. You don't know what you're talking about. Ten years ago Towfiq and Saaxo weren't part of Puntland. Saaxo is in Southwest Gaalkacyo district.

We'll just let HG be HG and watch as Sheikhaal, Dir, and co come running to us.

Dude, Northern Mudug joining Galmudug is a non-starter, and even if Bari & Nugaal were on fire we still won't join. Take it from someone who is actually from this region.
Anyway, continue posting wet dreams on forums as if the last 15+ years haven't proven anything.

The thing I admire about Garacad port is, it's financed and 100% owned by Somalis, unlike foreign owned ports such as Berbera.

This is what I call development. Kudos to reer puntland. Our grip on mudug will only get stronger once the port is completed. The broke gaajo state of galnus will come begging to use our port

This ‘port’ aka jetty in garacad was built to take business away from bosaso. Reer bosaso were not happy with the puntland state’s deal with P&O ports and refused to allow corrupt development- garowe/qardho community said we can punish reer bosaso/bari via this project

It appears Garacad port would have the advantage of starting business ahead of Berbera port (a minimum of 5 years before its construction is completed). With plans to expand its size in a few years, Garacad port (possibly along with Bossaso port) could become a serious competitor to Berbera's. The lesson is, you don't need mega projects that require $billions, decades of construction, on top of being owned by foreign companies/states, and the possibility of abandoning it due to cost overruns (as happened to many mega projects); you only need an easily manageable, smart hybrid & expandable port like Garacad's. Nonetheless, competition is good for the consumer.
