We are not as big or famulus as the Somali Communities in Kenya. But we exists. We came to Tanzania during the British Empire in the early 20 century we came from Somaliland.. Despite our small numbers we have produced Ministers and a lot of Businessmen. Most of us don't speak Somali and have assimilated into the local country. Majority are still Muslims but interracial Marriages has lead to a decline in full blooded Somalis who now make up 40 % of the community.
Somali Community in Tanzania estimated by the UN as of August 1993 : 12000
