Sheikh Shariif Sheik Ahmed and Issias Afawerki

Postby Wiil_Soomaali » Mon Apr 09, 2007 10:15 am

"As long as the Islamic faith facilitates the reconstitution and unity of Somalia, why should it be a target?," Issaias said, according to a statement on the information ministry's website.

And the stronger one:

"Those forces who seek to link the Islamic faith with terrorism are the very ones who do not respect and understand the Islamic faith, as well as aspire to put into effect their agenda of religious politics."

How many leaders in the Muslim world have the guts to say something like this.???..
I have great respect for this unique African leader.....

Foreign interference in Somalia cannot bring about solution other than complicating the issue: President Isaias
By Staff
Apr 7, 2007, 16:50

Asmara, 7 April 2007 – President Isaias Afwerki said that foreign interference in Somalia cannot bring about solution other than complicating the issue. He made the remarks in a meeting with Mr. Husein Mohammed Farah Aideed in Asmara today.

Stating that any external force should be part of the solution and not of the problem, the President underlined that the sole solution of the issue is a peaceful one achieved by the Somalis themselves and not military interventions.

Indicating that the support which the Eritrean people extend to the Somali people without distinction stems out from moral and legal obligation based on historical relations and neighborliness, President Isaias pointed out that the Somali people should guard against the deliberate attempts by external forces to create animosity among different clans with a view to sabotaging the Somali people’s aspiration to achieve reconstitution and unity of their country.

“As long as the Islamic faith facilitates the reconstitution and unity of Somalia, why should it be a target? Those forces who seek to link the Islamic faith with terrorism are the very ones who do not respect and understand the Islamic faith, as well as aspire to put into effect their agenda of religious politics,” He underscored. The President went to say that the unitary religious and linguistic constitution of Somalia is a national resource of the Somali people not found elsewhere.

Mr. Husein Mohammed Farah Aideed on his part commended Eritrea’s and that of President Isaias’ firm stance regarding the Somali issue. Noting that Eritrea’s strong conviction that “the Somali issue can only be resolved by the Somali people themselves without foreign interference” is gaining wide acceptance, Mr. Husein Farah Aideed emphasized that military intervention in Somalia can not bring about any solution. He further recalled that President Isaias was the only African leader who drew the attention of the then US President Bill Clinton to this salient point in 1993.

Mr. Husein Mohammed Farah Aideed explained that the problem witnessed in Mogadishu last week is the outcome of external military intervention and that the Somali people are not at all prepared to see Somalia becoming another Iraq. He added that the Somali people have the capacity to resolve their affairs themselves and that the invading TPLF regime’s army should withdraw immediately without precondition. Mr. Husein Farah Aideed also indicated that even a force deployed in the name of peacekeeping must be part of the solution and not of the problem. The sole solution to the Somali issue remains leaving it to the Somalis themselves, he elaborated.

That is what I call a true leader Walaahay! You are looking at the picture of the true Somali president. Ethiopia will be defeated, Afbiijo will be kicked out, and the real president will come back home with millions cheering for him!
