What I don't get is...despite the large numbers of Marexaan overseas and the organization they have (this forum is my prime example) why its taking longer for Marexaan clan members to form a state.

There are 3 levels of states in Somalia. The first tier is Somaliland, which is on the same level as a small African republic. The second tier is Puntland. And the third tier includes Maakhir/Galmudug.

Galmudug is my best example for a state that bloomed in a few short months. They don't have skyscrapers and an organized militia - but they make the best of what they have. I also use Galmudug as my example because it only took months to take the disorganized Sacad clan and turn them into an organized and progressive state. Albeit the whole thing started out as a tool for Puntland just like Puntland started out as a tool for Ethiopia - it still provided some positive kickbacks and a sense of local pride for those who have residence in the state.

I'll let pictures document what I'm trying to show - major developments in Galmudug as a result of the state's creation - this can be Cabudwaaq or Bardheere in 6 months, easily - I just want to know what is keeping those two cities from becoming like this:

Ethiopian interference in Gedo both directly and indirectly (Creating a civil war there) over the past decade has been the biggest challenge. From USC/Yamyam/Ealay attacks in the '90s to SNF recapture, to Itixaad capture to SNF Vs Itixaad, then Gedo tribal civil War and Ethiopian meddling has been a deadly combiniation. To be honest Tigrays just got off our backs the past year or two where they now have Shabeele/Hiiraan and don't interfere in Gedo anymore. Since then We've made a maamul and now that maamul is trying to establish strong safety and security so relief agencies can start working there. One positive is Gedo today is very safe and could be one of the safest regions in Somalia. Next step is convincing NGO's and the diaspora to come back and help.



As a side note, unfortunately Gedo does not fall within the Hargeisa-Kismaayo road so it loses out on that business a little but We have Kenya for import/export trade. Things are looking up and We have a legitimate admin for every town in Gedo so just give it time. Things are looking up.


Btw if You're referring to Jubbaland then that is not possible as Abdullahi Yusuf has succeeded in totally butchering that proposition by creating enough friction within the clan. Unfortunate but Marexaan are not at the level politically to make such a venture succeed. We'll start with baby steps, focus on Gedo, build it and then go from there. As far as Kismaayo goes I really hope a legitimate Government comes along and takes control of that underutilized city and turns it into something special all Somalis can benefit from

The answers that I come up with is.

1. We are very very divided and there's always inner competition with so and so subclans.

2. Alot of incompotent calool ushaqeestayaal are our so called leaders and people blindly support them.

3. Also Comparing Guldumudug with Jubbaland is very unfair, as Gstate only has half of galgacyo and few tuulooyins, and sacad wich is like reer-diini (as apposed to whole MR) can quickly solve their issues, The challanages we face is very complicated, u see how hard somaliland (orginized for over a decade) is trying to bring lascaanood and las qorey within their folds, anaga we are trying to unite 3 gobols possibly the most important and resourceful in somalia into ONE state.....so the challanges are much greater.

Anyway: I think we need to start thinking critically when it comes to the development of our lands. In this, I must state that truth and only truth holds water. Our problems as a clan strech from Negelle-Borana and Babili to Kismayo as far-Northward as Galgadud and Mudug. There are, at the same time, some other chunks of land that Marehans of antequity inhabit. Marehans are continental.

We share one problem, but one is special for those in Somalia, proper. Those problems must be identified, only then, they can be intervened.

The problem we share is the name: For example, I - a citizen of Ethiopia- wince with pain when I hear Marehans humiliated or killed. And I can't believe when I hear they're killing each other. And the statement that Ethiopia created an enmity in Marehans is a sheer lie. I was in Moyale with UNHCR when the unfortunate inter-clan fighting was taking place. from 1996 - 2005.

The problem that we have wuth which we can never develop is a desease I had coined as 'Tutalei Syndarome.'

Tutalei Syndarome is the art of smearing and public lynching -with cheap propoganda- everyone that the state [Reer Diini] deems its enemy in terms of discovering the truth; taking a stand; suggesting a thing; telling the truth; or even dressing nice; and so forth.

For one thing, we don't have propaganda machines that blow things out of proportion and that report every positive thing that happens in our regions. Just because you do not hear of it does not mean these things do not happen. We don't brag like the people from north who take two pictures from different angles of every new building that is built in some country hamlet with no running water or electricity.

Anyway your answer lies within the Marexaan community in OHIO. The city is teeming with them but most businesses are owned by others.

i think this applies mostly to kismaayo where there is no sense of leadership, and ultimately to all our lands

we as marehans need to overcome this jealousy and extreme competitiveness toward each other

i think its absurd that we behave like this when infact the enemy is vigilantly in our surroundings
