If I'm not mistaken the farmers in the South were always primairly D&M, Abgal, Bantus, etc. But now everybody is catching on, and Reer Gedo do farm now.

^^^^^because before people used to live in MUDULS which meant they can move out any time they wanted and sometimes to never return to the area but now ppl built houses which makes them ( MAGUURAAN ) who look after their properties.

People in Gedo do farm, but not as much as others. I remember back in days in baadiyaha Gedo, in the rain season the family suddently settled down and set up this farm and it grew successfully. So even though they were nomads, still they were making use of farms.

And by the way not farming doesn't mean uncivilised, because the most uncivilised people like the hutu/black people and other poor ppl around the world live on farming and you cannot say they're civilised. Having said that reer Gedo are very much civilised  .

I've found out that the place this woman is farming at are called "dhurwaayaale" and is situated only 2 or 3 km from Garbaharaay. Also, I've found out that the area is green all year around and drought doesn't exist there. A person who is familiar with that place told me that if you dig the ground with you hands, water would come out- it is that watery.

My step sisters husband, mid la dhaho caano-nuug, allah ha u naxariiste, built a house there in the 1990s after leaving Nairobi. He must have invited a bunch of his cousins while he was still alive.

By the way, Beeraha Raamo, not that far away from Garbaharey, have always been in that region and the farmers there are as marexaan as they come. Farming is not new to reer Gedood since they have inherited a land with an extremely rich soil with an abundance of water.

I think in the future, these farms could become really useful. This white guy who works with me just bought a farm in Malawi and he already started growing cash crops there. He asked me if I wanted to join in this business venture but I don't know the first thing about agriculture or even running a business.
