I Love Gedoland!
Posted: Wed Dec 30, 2009 3:02 pm
There was a couple of years I called a discovery years which were from (1990-1992) that I have been in that marvellous land which have changed my entire understanding of Gedoland and over all Southern part of Somalia’s landscape. I felt I was dispossessed, left behind and knowing nothing and most of all completely ignorant to that land. The day I left that land and went abroad was one of the saddest moments of my long life history. As I remember “Gedoland” was and still is the eight phenomenon of the planet as I compared to its beauty.

Have you ever seen this land’s villages and towns? Please share with me, even if you haven’t seen it before, and enjoyed just reading the names. It has breathtaking scenery and will give you a hearing aid which flourishes your imaginary brain artistry. Just listen and think and fill the harmony of the sound of the names. You will be gob-smacked and body twitched with “Mansha Alah”.

And so on.
It was a Land of vast beauty and breath taking setting and site, which defines the existence of a good relationship with the people who lives in and the connection they have with nature and its environment. I have seen the attractiveness the land has which melted my mind and heart and caused me a deep admiration and joy. There were hills and valleys, thorny trees and shrubs, grasslands that stretch as far as the eye could see. I could only compare THIS LAND “the all might’s power” and I was amazed the way God furnished this land on his own image” and shows God’s greatness.
Gedo is a land of beauty, exotic life, vivid, vibrant and has a magic touch, hot and humid which engulfs your imagination. A landscape which has a shaped of romantic stature that is mixed with breath taking hills, mountains, plains and valleys like Qodahley, Faanweyn, Jardaani and Daar. The scenery conjures passion in your heart and the body lulls functioning temporarily with heavenly laughter.
Trees and grassland is covered as far as eyes could see with a natural splendour. Aneexo,Argeeg,Bisiq,bilcil,Tuurinbarbaar,Turfaahis,Jinnow,Jawjawle,Xibnocas,Xajiingoroyo,Raxanreeb,Raydab,Sarmaan,Sabansabddo,Shilan,Dheen,Dhusundhus,Dheerdheere,Fulaay,Foodcas,Qurac,Qaalmoqooqis,Kabxan,Kabqole,Labi,Laamolooshe,Masaarojabis,Mareerqoox,Nagaar,Naylokobcis,Wees,Wacanri,Higle,Hareeri,Yamaarug,Yaris,Iba-laroor,Ilmoqor,Ontorre,Oobbo, and Ubax. O’God what a shining Land. the land is also sustaining other native wild animals, which make the land more attractive, and more exiting. Lions, Elephants, giraffe, hyenas, leopards, jackals, ostriches, gazelle and dig dig are running around the bushes which could surprise your experience in the natural beauty of the land. Wild animals roam around the land freely in every direction, which you will appreciate, and make you to express amusement and could make you feel at home. Birds of different colour and stature are flying in front of everybody’s eyes singing with welcome song to the land of infinite beauty and godly touch.
Baardheere You could see eagles flying high to the blue sky, owl hiding inside a bushy tree waiting to hunt, ducks floating at the water pots and sitting leisurely with no fear of pollution and other elements. Masses of smaller birds could be seen fly in every direction and have no boundaries and singing with melody music which might take you briefly to heaven if you know what I mean! Also the bird songs will remain every one of Somali decent the great orchestra songs leaded by Ahmed Naaji, the great composer, during 70s to 90s in Mogadishu theatre “the hay days of Somali nationalism”. I was a flabbergasted and dumbfounded with amusement when I saw the land which has natural gorgeousness.
Gedoland hasn’t been artificially developed but the nature made an exquisite resort. Jubbah river criss-crosses the heart of entire Gedoland and it is the biggest waterway in the area. It seems the God’s creature of this land without fault amazes every human imagination. It’s uniformity of colours which balance land’s beauties make you gob smacked. Farms, traditional dwellings, and the smell of freshness of the land can intoxicated your mind with affection and could make you fill with appreciation and love. Any historian who sees this land could appreciate and tell an endless tail of stories which can be read harmoniously and with heaven’s shadow.
If you step on top of one of those mountains like Mataa Arbaa, Dhurwaayaale,Dhuudhuu,Aqallo Aar, Laba Dhaban and Sardhahan, Singili you could see an endless passion of greenery and natural healing atmosphere in the Land. If you look further and through the horizon it will give yeah a complete freedom of mind. Also the environment sooths your body and nourish your faded skin to your original health.
I have seen and felt of that land when I have been there and it was a life that would be hard to forget. I have saved all the memories I had into my hard drive of my brain and I will some day retrieve”if God wish be”. The land has a healing power and magic with unimaginable nostalgia. It is a place to retire or raise children and a family and the love ones.
Those who haven’t seen the land will end up “UM and WEY” and endless regrets which haunt you for a long time to come. If you are the native individuals appreciated, and if not visit it, you will feel over the moon.
