having said that, i support a political party in the country that i live, but that does not mean that i have to go and join the forces right now and fight wars. i support my region Jubaland and my tribe the same way, and like every society everyone has a role to play that is not fighting, i for one am proud of backing that up with contributing in development projects and giving charity, and i try my best to help my people. also do not spread lies about Barre Hiiraale, he values the lives of the people of Jubaland, but Alkalab certainly does not. Warsame for someone who I respect and always admired as a rational person, historian, etc. I am shocked that Your thinking is this warped and You seem so out of touch with reality. The fact is people in Gedo right now with abaar, dhibaatooyin, caafimad darro, etc. their least concern is politics and thats just the fact. This isn't friggin Libya, Egypt with civil societies, government, opposition groups, etc. These dudes demonstrating in these countries have full stomachs, peace, education, healthcare. They have the energy/appetite to actually spend all this effort on politics. Somalia, This is a lawless country and people are lacking the most basic of necessities. Murax, you seem to be under the presumption that I have no relatives in Gedo. My own grandfather is buried in Beled-Xaawo not to mention the fact that I have hundreds of relatives there. Or did you assume that because I am reer Caabud-Waaq I cannot have ties to Gedo?

1) Yes, there is abaar in Gedo. Abaar has always been there and will continue to appear in the future. However, what is different from this year's drought compared to the previous years is that al-Shabaab have banned aid agencies to operate and bring fast relief. Consequently, dozens died because of this policy.

2) The thousands stationed in Doolow are individuals with families, who cannot visit their home regions because of some lunatics. What is the difference between them and the average resident in Baardheere or Beled-Xaawo? Nothing, apart from the fact that the former decided to take up arms.

3) Your cousin is an individual who does not represent the majority's view. I can pull a relative's opinion and masqeraude as the public's opinion. The reality is far more intricate than a single individual's view.


So far, Gedo and its adjoining regions (the two Jubbas) have been occupied by al-Shabaab for the last 3 years. The only development that they manage to bear fruit was security leaving out the banning of aid agencies, targeted killings, forced taxes to fund their wars, forced recruitment of child soldiers ( over 1000 Reer Gedo child soldiers died in Xamar - fact), etc, etc, etc

You see, Murax, you do not seem to mentally grasp the bigger picture. You equate security with development. If that was the case, these regions would have flourished under the their rule, which is not the case. If you haven't got the peoples' support, no amount of "bringing security" would change that.

You only have to look at the Sufis in West-Galgaduud who have got the backing of the residents there as opposed to the ones in Jubbaland. The Sufis managed to erect a court, bring security, create a police force, create a military force, abolish the green line, etc.

Without the resistance of the Doolow group, Mareexaan as a clan would have joined al-Shabaab long time ago and that is the plain truth.
