The Reer Garaad Mareexaan of the Adal Empire

Postby James Dahl » Thu Aug 25, 2011 4:50 pm

While I understand the lineage of the Reer Ugaas Mareexaan a little better now than I once did, I do not know the Reer Garaad very well.

The first Garaad mentioned is Garaad Axmed Xiraabo (Also spelled Hirabu or Haraabe or Xaraabo), the son of the chief of the Mareexaan at the time, who was made Wali (governor) of Dawaaro after that kingdom's capture by Iimaam Axmed Gureey and his allies.

Lists I have been able to find about the Reer Garaad of Mareexaan show that the Reer Garaad are descended from an Axmed, is this the same Axmed? Or a different Axmed from a different branch of Mataan Ciise Axmed Maxamed Da'uud?

Thank you for your time :)

- James

What will you benefit from this? Do you have a hidden agenda for your interest in knowing every freaking details about every freaking subclan within the Somali people? Are you producing History books, where you have altered certain historical facts to confuse and change the existence of certain tribes within the Somali people, for the young Generations that will come after us?

Interesting, because I know Reer Garaad are a very respected subclan within Marexaan, and have in the past been at the forefront of Marexaan leadership as well as its most Religious.
