Mandera-Lugh Basin

Postby Advo » Thu Apr 05, 2012 9:03 pm

So I was playing with this map and came up with the idea of evenly distributing the albertine basin in Uganda into GEDO, since the whole region is sitting on a block I figured I could estimate the amount of oil

So since the albertine basin managed to fit only half of the region, it's fair to double the number. Based on my calculation Gedo is sitting on 5Billion Barrels of Oil, at the least.

Image

That my friends equals 5 billion barrels of oil X 110 (current market price) = five hundred fifty billion $$$$ 8-)

and that's just one region of Jubaland.

Raytec to Acquire Lion Petroleum Corp.

Lion is party to Production Sharing Contracts (“PSC”) with the Government of the Republic of Kenya, relating to Blocks 1 and 2B. The PSCs grant Lion a 100% interest in the respective Blocks, subject only to an 18% back-in right in favour of the Kenyan government.

Block 1 covers an area of approximately 31,781 square kilometers forming part of the western portion of the Mandera-Lugh basin that occupies part of the northeastern territory of Kenya and extends into Somalia and Ethiopia. Lion has entered into a Farm-In Agreement with East African Exploration Ltd. (“EAX”) of Dubai, UAE on the Block 1 concession. EAX may earn a 50% interest in Block 1 by conducting a work program (minimum 600 kilometres 2D seismic) and making all the financial commitments required of Lion to the Kenyan government under the PSC.

Block 2B covers an area of approximately 7,807 square kilometers south of Block 1 in Northeastern Kenya and covers three separate rift basins; the Anza, Mandera-Lugh and Mochesa Basins.

This is a turning point of immense significance in the annals of Somali people's history. The local people must consolidate control of their resources and push their influence out far and beyond even the nation. A new class of real first world elites must rise out of the Somali Republic putting to shame even the last memory of elitism and stature.

Mashallah  I just hope we have a fair, wise and legitimate leadership that will bring the benefits of all the oil wealth to the Somali nation.

I think it was destined beautifully that Somalia's move towards resource exploitation was to wait until we got rid of a strong central government. The Somali nation will indeed prosper but it is the first time I have actually appreciated Puntland's forced push of federalism to the Somali State. Resource management is not the job of central government but primacy will be given to Federal States. And whatever dollar is given to the federal government it must give back at least 90 cents in services to the state as is the case in the relationship between my state of Washington and the US. Puntland's oil ambitions has led to a good precedent to evoke in the constitution federal states protection clauses that might have been needed later. I am very excited to see the proposed draft federal constitution to be unveiled in two months.

Murax,

Ceelwaq/BuloXawo and all the 6 to 6 Sacad convenience stores & restaurants.

Voltage,

It would have been better if oil was exploited in the 70s and 80s. Somalia would have been deemed worth saving by the international community.

Epic quote. So true.

Voltage,

I always believed in the concept of Federalism, but Somalis really have a jacked up undestanding of what Federalism is. Theres Federalism and theres downright secession type behavior. Somalia's idea of Federalism is really secession type idealogy.

I honestly am starting to think strengthened autonomy is not such a bad thing. Any single member of beesha I tell about the prospects all of a sudden recalibrate their long held beliefs and start to think this way. You can literally see the gears shifting from behind their eyes.

Voltage and Murax,

Ever stopped and wondered if the locals would be hostile to Diaspora Somalis  Think about it, some guy who suffered in SOmalia, never left. Would he let some Diaspora Somali who didn't experience the hell called Somalia come in and tell him what to do ?

Me thinks not.

Only if you don't understand Somali culture. "Locals" jealously count the number of brains and intellectuals among them and there is no such separation between the ones who stayed and the ones who were traveling gaining skills. As long as you have come back to share with your people, you will receive nothing but welcome.
