The Marehan in Kismaayo and generally, while calling for better working relationship the government, also share the same position of Ahmed Madoobe/Ras Kamboni that this is a local affair.

The decision to refuse entrance to the commission sent by the President included key Marehans such as Raadeer. The President sent Canood (Marehan, former Commander of Villa Somalia security for Sheikh Sharif), some lady called Baarliin who the President named chairman of his committee for Jubbaland, and some guy called Abdikariim "Gabayre" titled "gudoomiyaha rugta ganacsiga benaadir".

The Darod are united that the events in Jubbaland are a local issue and the Marehan are just as much vociferous supporters of this idea and are in step with Ras Kamboni on it.

Also, the transition council in Kismaayo has been disbanded and a new one is being set up with Marehan as head.

Jubbaland (especially at the moment) is not a local issue; it is a national issue. It is called the Federal Republic of Somalia, not the Somali Autonomous States. What is the point in having a federal system of government if there are going to be people who are opposed in including the Federal Government of Somalia in the formation of Jubbaland? There is no federal country on this Earth that has not been included in the creation or the entry of a federal state into the union. What unfortunately looked like what was going to be the most decentralized country in the world will pretty much become a "country" of autonomous states.

They start this now. Then they will create their own currency, passports, have their own foreign ministry. It won't be long before they call for secession.

This is why many people opposed Somalia becoming a federation from the beginning. Somalis are sneaky people with their own agendas. Give them an inch and they'll take a mile.

Mogadishu is the tumour which festers the entire body. You have a town in which whole scale ethnic cleansing took place and even to this day stolen properties and personal wealth are still illegally in the hands of the President's overall clan and instead of setting priorities to bring harmony back to Somalis....he concentrates on Kismaayo, the nearest major city the Darod live.

Jubbaland State of Somalia be idni laahi kariim and local ownership over their land. Jubbaland and Kismaayo have more diaspora interested in it then anywhere else. They took Mogadishu but Kismaayo will surpass it and it will be ours.

Firstly, It was not "ethnic" cleansing. The clan majority in Jubbaland and the people of Mogadishu share the same ethnicity. Let us set the record straight. AUN to the dead and those who were targeted because of their clan.

Secondly, whoever has property in Xamar are able to go back and to get back what is rightfully theirs, provided that they have their papers and if it was not obtained through illegal means (i.e: Boli Qaran).

Thirdly, it is time for this smear campaign on Somalinet against Hassan Sheikh Mohamud to end. It's unwarranted. This is a man who stayed in Somalia throughout the whole duration of the civil war, opening universities and working for NGO's trying to better the lives of all Somalis regardless of clan. This man has a clean heart and God-fearing. He is "interfering" in the Jubbaland process not because of "HAG", not because it is in his clan interest to do so but because he is the President of Somalia. People on this site had the audacity of comparing him to warlords.

Fifthly, Jubbaland is a local project, for the local people and by the local people, but the President should and will be included in it at the initial stages. That is what federal systems are all about. Any president, be it a Darod one, a Hawiye one, a Dir one or a Rahanweyn one, would have reacted the same way Hassan Sheikh Mohamud did regarding Jubbaland. What kind of madness is this when it seems that the Kenyan army officials have more say in what is going on in Kismayo and Jubbaland than the Government of Somalia? This is a strip of land that immediately borders Kenya and people here are expressing their outrage over the President's concern? The Kenyans are the same people who tried to trick the previous Somali parliament into signing an agreement to sign off a portion of Somali waters to Kenya. Anything can happen.

Just because He's the President doesn't mean its wise for Him to get involved anyway He sees fit. He may have made some mistakes regarding the Jubbaland issue but it is apparent that the very people who are in charge of Jubbaland are pushing him away completely (and have done so even before the President's slip ups). The Somali media, as well as some on Somalinet, are painting the man as a menace and as a man against Darod interests. There is a smear campaign against this miskeen man; painting him as a person he is not. He is the least deserving person in Somali politics to go through this

There is a public perception that wants to be partisan whether for self-aggrandizement or to instil hostilities but the reality is there has been a formed consensus but all the people in power from both clans.
