After Al Shabaab swept from Kismaayo to Gedo, he held his fort (much like Goobweyn today) at Dollow and for two years Al Shabaab couldn't dislodge him. He built himself up again and the Ethiopians who were against zal Shabaab coming to their border started to support him.
