Baardhere is one of my favourite Somali towns, I hope it remains the breadbasket of Gedo. I remember going there to get stock for my aunts shop, I'd never seen so much produce in my whole life, and the people were the friendliest. It was the first time I'd spoken to strangers in Somalia, they just made fun of my accent but praised my af Somali. Gedo people are both forward thinking and religiously conservative, a great combination. The rest of Jubaland is sadly controlled by Ogaden militia who murder Marexaan and smaller clans and loot and steal houses...it's like 1990's Xamar all over again in Kismaayo.
