Ma Shaa Allah Luuq is breathtaking. My Pops used to jump in the river from one end as a kid and swim to the other.

Did he ever say if there was wildlife in the river back in the day? Crocodiles? Hippos?

My mom's younger brother is buried in Luuq. Inshallah I will go to Luuq one day to pray at his grave.

Siyaad Barre told he was born in Garabaharrey Gedo region only to get enlisted into Italian controlled army of Somalia , he never told them he was actually born in Shilabo todays Ogaden region (ethiopian controlled)
Maybe they knew it was time over for the italians, brittish & europeans in Africa, shortely after all african countries were free from colonial presence
