Ma Shaa Allah Luuq is breathtaking. My Pops used to jump in the river from one end as a kid and swim to the other.
Did he ever say if there was wildlife in the river back in the day? Crocodiles? Hippos?

My mom's younger brother is buried in Luuq. Inshallah I will go to Luuq one day to pray at his grave.

Luuq is a historical district. It is the seat of the Ugaaska Gasogurde ah RXW and Ugaaska guud Reer Xassan ee Reer Yusuf ah. I can't wait to buy farm land and export food crops to Khaleej countries.

It is our land. But the Gasogurde are original owners and Sultanate of Raxanweyn. We outnumber them now

Its thanks to Siyaad Barre & other smart marehan men of that time we even get to claim this beautiful region :som:

Siyaad Barre told he was born in Garabaharrey Gedo region only to get enlisted into Italian controlled army of Somalia , he never told them he was actually born in Shilabo todays Ogaden region (ethiopian controlled)
Maybe they knew it was time over for the italians, brittish & europeans in Africa, shortely after all african countries were free from colonial presence :eat:

Gedo & Galgaduud & Sool were the new regions created into the somali map during the Kacaan.

Gedo as marehan homeland
Former bigger Mudug was divied into Galgaduud & Mudug , after clansmen complained that they didn't want to share region with hawiyo & mjs
Sool was created for the Dhulbahante people with Laascaanood as capital city of the region , since they had problems with isaq

So much big beautiful land the former somali men gave us , we just have to invest in it :stylin:

While other Marehans gave their votes to SYL, Luuq was the district that gave it's seat to the Marehan Union Party in the 1956 elections.
