1175 CE
Must be when the low land cushites split to eastern low land cushites, wonder how the somali language was like back then or if it was even formed, its a very long time ago. I think it was formed, we were probably using the arabic script back then and on writing would appear arabs. It wouldn't be presumptuous to think arabic loan words were already introduced. A early form of Somali language would probably also explain why oral history is almost non-existent in this period apart from the lineage of course.
1300s
I think this is around the time when Ifat or preliminary Adal polities were being formed, shrines, masjids, trade centers and routes were probably being constructed, this is also around the time new clans were being founded and confederacies formed.
1500s-1600s
This is around the time the Futuh Al Habesha is based on, the Somali islamic polities fight back against Abyssinian aggression, Somali identity is established and expanding at this point. Battle with Habesha is mentioned in Oral history as well as key players like Ahmed Guray, Nuur.
1750s
Post Adal defeat mystery, very interesting period very little is know about apart from a few maps and their footnotes, it would probably be the dispersal and unintended expansion of Somalis southward.
1900s
Colonial period, alot of recorded written document and rich oral history to confirm it as well.
