Murax, as I said before once I met Cabdiwaaxid Cilmi Goonjeex in Nairobi. He struck me as one of the top most intelligent Somali men I have ever spoken to and if you remember, I said this while I was there even before he was inducted into the TFG through the power-sharing Djibouti formula. I was not surprised when he was given the highest post of any Marehan and now current acting prime minister. Wallahi he is a very well qualified and intelligent man and deserves the post of presidency least of all prime minister to Sheikh Sharif.

Listened to his interview with VOA and he reminded me of sharp and seasoned he was.

Absolutely. Da'uud Dirir was the political leader of Mareexaan/rer Siyaad in particular and one of the most powerful Marrehan leaders/businessman.

Right after that point, Al Shabaab lured him to Kismaayo to make peace between them and Marehan and he was killed.

I forgot exactly when he was killed, but this was summer of 2008.

I can't remember exactly when he was killed, but it could have been the following fall.

I remember his joke to my dad wallahi, "war ninkaan quruxda badanoo carabka ah car nin kale hakuu soo dhawaado 'Mydad-oow', anaa gabadh u hayo." Great guy, mashallah, ilaahay hau naxariisto. It was very difficult hearing about his end having used to that easy smiling face.
