depends what you wanna do.
both have excellent prospects as engineers are in short supply.
personally, i`d be attracted to the military aeronautical engineering.
after graduation spend a few years in the RAF, and you wold be able to write your own ticket with the petrol sheikhs .
dont forget these clowns have signed contracts to buy billions of dollars worth of arms, including fighter jets.

Same here, I want to either do Mechanical, EEE or Aero and then design and build military systems. Lakiin, don't you do need to do aeronautical BEng/MEng first and then specialise later in military?

What do you do horta, if you don't mind me asking?

abdi, the building and design military systems is highly specialised skill and there isn't any single engineering degree that can prepare you for such a task. this is the sort of career for someone with a masters or pHD with plenty research experience. besides there really isn't a big jobs market for this sort of thing, very regulated industry and def need security clearances .

as for aerospace eng, i don't want to kill your dreams but if you're looking for job security i'd suggest you do something else. i know one dude in my class who has a pHD in aerospace but now doing mechanical eng becuase he couldn't find a job.

the grass is always greener on teh other side if you dont stay the course you will not achieve anything.

Dont go into electrical engineering I have two cousin that have done it and they both hate it...plus there is very small job market..

same with chemical unless you have extraordinary grades and at times connection. attaining a well paying is very slim.

aerospace engineering is not something for us somali saxiib we dont have a country that has those programs, and the ones in the US and Europe have a line as long as somalias cost.

Mechanical engineering is not easy to find a job but you can start your own company in a few years, overall this is the second safest engineering field IMO.

civil engineering, there are always openings for civil engineers, and you can start your own business as a contractor or a constructions expert, I am personally going for this degree.

Mechanical, Civil, or electrical and you'll do just fine anywhere you go on this planet. With Chemical it depends on the sector and its location but I found that with either a civil or chemical degree there is that option of variety.

cmon don't feed the kid bs, job market for EE's is excellent and are much higer paid than other eng diciplines (on average).
anyway you shouldn't have any problems with EE, mechanical or civil, you'll have plenty opportunaties. my only advise would be once you pick one, STICK TO IT and FINISH IT.

huh? your cousins finished an electrical engineering degree and went on and finished med school? that would've taken a minimum 10 years, what a complete and utter waste of time. i can tell you for a fact that jobs in the EE market or NOT so scarce that one would find it economically beneficial to change to a med career.

anyway:
1. there could be a million reasons why your cousins couldn't find jobs, poor grades etc being among them.
2. i don't think the experiences of your two cousins is a good indicator for the global job market for electrical engineering.

saxib I dont give two buckets of donkey piss if you believe me or not ... my first cousin finished EE as a bachelor couldn't find work and went to med school, he advised his brother not to go into that field but he wouldnt listed.. he also got a BS in EE but couldnt find work so he also went to med school. Dont lead this poor fella astray.

Thanks for the advice guys. Actually engineering no matter what the discipline can be a shaky career choice. That's because the employment depends on the state of the economy - engineering is not what it used to be in the west.

Also, I hear that EE and Mechanical has good employment prospects compared to other fields, but EE doesn't interest me as much as mechanical - whcih is also the most versatile field in engineering.
