Nugaal (Somali: Nugaal) is one of the smaller administrative regions (gobol) of Somalia. It is located in the northeastern part of the country and its capital is Garoowe.
Nugaal is bordered by Ethiopia and the Somali regions of Sool to the west, Bari to the north, and Mudug to the south, with the Indian Ocean to the east.
The region is central to the area claimed by the regional administration of Puntland in northeastern Somalia.
The Awrtable are a Somali sub-clan part of the larger Darod group. Their main centre is Burtinle. which is situated in the Nugaal region (gobolka). The Awrtable also live in cities such as Garoowe and Boosaaso, both of which are part of the autonoumous Puntland region in northeastern Somalia.
Sub-clans include Sugaal Muuse, Waaq-la-jire, Reer Shucayb, Muuse Ibraahim, Maxamad Axmad, and Ciise Axmad.
