What is the population of the Ogaden?

Based on the 2007 Census conducted by the Central Statistical Agency of Ethiopia (CSA), the Somali Region has a total population of 4,439,147. In the previous census, conducted September 1997, the region's population was reported to be 3,439,860

This is from The Ethiopian census in 2007 and 1997. A mere 1 million growth in 10 years is hard to believe. With the Somali lifestyle is hard to believe we have such low birthrates

I have read places the real population of the Ogaden is 8 million not 4 million. Kenyan Somalis in the recent census tallied to 2,4 million. Puntland and Somaliland combined population would be bigger than the Ogaden using TPLF stats.

Anyone else have an opinion on this matter. Muslims Ethiopian themselves dispute the census

Birthrates in the Somali region are much higher than anyother region in Ethiopia. These Ethiopians are mostly farmers, they cant even support that many kids.Thats why you have half a million street children in Addis ababa.

The region is 400,000+ sq km plus add the regions auctioned off the to the Oromo regions or 1/3 of Ethiopia.Somalia is 600,000 sq km.

Its perhaps around 6-8 million, ONLF says 8M.

The Ethiopians underestimate the population for obvious political purposes.First the region is muslim and second there is a war.

lol, wallahi somalida waa cajiib. cuqdadnimo, they hate the name Ogaden, it smacks them in the face and reminds them of their langabsness. like a old harti man once said to me: Ogadens are one half of somalis.

Even if those figures are false a increase of population by 30% is huge in just 10 years, and you guys don't think that is amazing? Especially with the resources that is available to these people them even admitting that much is a great achievement.
