But I have a doubt about ONLF:
ONLF was created in 1984 but ONLF chief says his organization began armed struggle in 1994.

[Osman] The ONLF was founded in 1984, but began armed action 10 years later, in 1994, after the ruling party in Ethiopia reneged on its promises to the political parties and to the peoples of Ethiopia and revoked an agreement to resolve the Ogaden issue in a peaceful way. The front’s goal is to liberate this region from the Ethiopian occupation.
Reading this opinion I understand ONLF did not fight against Mengistu,because Mengistu was defeated in 1991.

ONLF is very much alive and kicking. Recently their have been a spate of kidnappings and targeted assassinations against ONLF which shows that the Ethiopians remain threatened by the noble movement. The region is blockaded and the Ethiopian Somali friendlies across the border in Somalia are disrupting ONLF supply lines and actively spying for the Ethiopians so currently a difficult operating environment persists.

ONLF is loosing the battle. Illeey is very sucessful with his dhaanto strategies.
