Postby wadnahadhiiga » Sat Feb 17, 2018 6:55 am

Galmudug or lets say HG are famous of self sufficient

if you ever travel to central Somalia HG region specially small towns between Xarardheere and Dhuusamareeb to matabaan or Xarardheere to Cadaado, gaalkacyo and Hobyo all the small places like Miliqo, warshubo, Caad, Camaara Xinlibi xeerodhagaxley and so on, will see every house have a huge space hectares and people grow own food from the popular digir beans, and Qare to the lesser gocoso and honey they also have goats and sheep and buy camel milk and meat from the local nomads who pass by these towns, its an autarkic environment and self sufficient.

People plant heaverly during rainy seasons " guga" and store food for the the dry season " Jiilaal". its an autarkic environment and this was the case since time.

Other then the obvious " Meat and Milk " HG diet includes Falfaliir beans and milk" breakfast lunch and dinner

We need to build Dams to store rain water. Eritrean's built many Dams and don't have to worry about droughts.
We need to build 2 dams or more our dams in galgaduud and mudug.

Saaxiib i am against large scale farming it damages the natural beauty of the land, the sustainable ways each HG families grow enough food in rural towns is enough. The problem is with cities and i know all the major towns Gaalkacyo, Cadaado, Dhuusamareeb all have medium size farms which supply enough food for each town.

Dhuusamareeb is the last editions to this new environmentally friendly city farming

Considering the scarcity of the water in that region I assume these beans don’t need a lot of water .

Yeah, they plant it on the rain season, considering central somalia gets A lot of rain during the rainy season. Central somalia can grow anything but it just doesn't have a river. I think if a huge rainwater collecting dam is made central somalia can be more self-sufficient.

Central somalia already has a lot of lemon, watermelon, Bean, sorghum, papaya (babaay), tomatoes and many other small farms, they just need investment.

Some people have small Dams that collects and saves some amount of rainwater and later on use it on their farms, some relay on wells, or city fountain waters.

They need solar powered wells too.

Great this is much needed knowledge up north. The further you go north the less ppl know about farming.
