Genetic testing has proved Majerteens are more closely related to Garre Somalis than to other Hartis or Daroods.
An MJ Cismaan Maxamuud from Bari has uploaded his Yfull results.
He belongs to the E-Y18629 clade, which is the common Somali clade, nothing out of the ordinary.

But whats interesting is that he belongs to the E-Y18637 sub-clade. This means he's not paternally related to the other Hartis within the past 3100 years. All the other Hartis share the E-Y163928 clade and have a common ancestor at 1550ybp.
His closest paternal matches are a Hawiye from Mogadishu and another reer Banaadir guy. This was not surprising as there were already signs that MJ and particularly the Saleebaan were different from the rest of Hartis, genetically speaking and were closer to Hawiye and other Samaales.
By examining the Y-STRs, the FTDNA Somali project administrator all independently came to the conclusion that the Maxamuud Saleebaan and Cali saleebaan are not paternally related to the rest of Harti. Their closest STR match on FTDNA was a Garre (Samaale) and so the FTDNA administrator grouped them together. But that was just a prediction based on limited STRs, this yfull result pretty much confirms our theory. Harti is definitely a confederation and not based on blood. The Maxamuud Saleebaan are probably Samaales originally. This is why tribalism is kinda stupid you literally hate on people you're related to.
Not just one individual but a few Saleebaans. There's an Cali Saleebaan and an Ciise Maxamuud on the FTDNA project, based on STRs they are most definitely not closely related to Harti but are an almost identical match with a Garre and that's why the DNA project admin grouped them together. The Cismaan Maxamuud further confirms this and clusters with Hawiye on Yfull under the E-BY8081 clade which is not the Harti clade (E-Y163928 ). Do you think its mere coincidence that only Saleebaans are showing up with these weird results?. Y-STRS pointed towards this and now Yfull has confirmed it. There's no debate.

Geneticists compare the Y-STR values (numbers) when they want to know how closely related males are. Say you have 3 males and 2 of them share more matches with each other, that means they are probably more closely related, paternally. It aint even that complicated. Below is a STR comparison of the MJs, Garre and Other Daaroods from FTDNA. A 5 year old can see whos related to who.
