The following letter is directed to all those that care for the interest of Awdal and those interested in understanding the situation faced by the people of Awdalland in relation to the ever increasing dismissal of the Somaliland One Clan mission in the region of Awdal. The letter is a discursion of the need to unite the people of Awdal against the criminal Siilaanyo and for also Awdelites to think of the need to unite with the people of Sool who support the SSC for the sake of justice and peace for their land.

My dear Awdalites , you know the expression ‘Kud ka Guuroo qanjo u guur…’ all too well. That is exactly how you all feel and I understand it. I myself feel too. The fact of the matter is that you will feel the same decades from now if you don’t put a full stop to Jaanle Siilaanyo’s plans. Yes, if you don’t stop the Siilaanyo reign of dominance, the same expression and even worse will be felt after Siilaanyo and even beyond. It will always be “Kud ka Guuroo Qanjo u guur…” until we are all drained out to nothing.

Reer Awdalow, Awrkii wuu kacay. You are not needed any more. Somaliland is not getting nearer to recognition month after month and in desperation Siilaanyo has begun putting you out of the formula. Next time you will be out for ever. True … whether you like it or not, it is now “qanjo u guur” but soon it is going to be out to nothing… yes… you heard me right …nothing at all…

You will have no rights at all. You will be denied of your rights to have anything. You will not be allowed for employment but to serve the iidoors in the restaurants and sweep the streets of Hargeisa and Burco. The biggest mistake one can make is refusing to believe the truth. The truth is that we have been betrayed and cheated and denied of our rights and we have to believe it. Sounds bad, isn’t it? But folks, let me tell you what you need to know; idinkaa dalbaday oo iidoor isku dhiibay ee ka gura growga muudhmuudhay!!!

Who is to blame?

Well folks, I will tell you who, but before I do, allow me to urge you sit down. Jump into the comfort zone. Take a glass of milk and relax. Now, visualize in your minds singing the following blues….

True, Awdalites are to be blamed for our shame. We neglected Awdal and our people. Our degrading methods of guide diplomacy and muted appeasement failed us. We had the union relation with Somaliland since the formation of the confederacy and have not been able to get the slightest concession on respect and fairness. And now Siilaanyo did not even hide it and put us out in the cold. Awdalites must now know that it is not Somaliland any more but Isaaqland. Shame to us all, we were easily defeated.

Somaliland – The all people dream

Somaliland was formed in confederacy of tribes united by a league. A league based on understanding, cooperating, caring and sharing with a vision of nation building and advancement. A confederacy agreement of power sharing with high hopes that the successful implementation of this agreement would provide a model for good governance in Somaliland which will in turn help us to create a solid basis to make the unity of the country attractive and preserve pride and dignity.

RuralMan08, tas gartay laakinse sharafta reer awdal ilaali , if you go back to history you will see gadabursi never needed an alliance with SSC or any other tribe for that matter, they fought one of the most battle hardened and wolf alike somali clans such as the cisse, they are a independent tribe, gashaanbur iyo waxas wa ceeb.

Siciid you are the wisest man amongst them, im sure if somaliland was full of people like you there would be no problems but my question is, we have neighbours to our east who murder innocent civilians who are unsurprisingly still at large. They have divided up the country to suit the needs of one clan, its not even that inclusive apart from subclans of Isaaq. So I dont know why they get surprised when dhulbahante and others feel that this is not working for their interests. If Hargeisa doesnt take the interests of reer sool, sanaag, cayn and awdal to heart then they have to take their interests in their own hands soo maha?

You understand where Im coming from?

RuralMan08, horta the first phase is recognising that each community has different needs, i don't know what the problem with awdal is but they seem to be fine backhome, they seem to be only angry about the two ministers they were given and other than that they have nothing much in common with SSC since they have the second highest position in the government the VP, SSC is more about land dispute and long griefs against the SNM, overall i understand where you are coming from however if we are fair we can say the SNM made more attacks and aggressions against SSC in the past than Awdal which explains why awdalians have less griefs against the SNM than that of the SSC.

Take one case Siciidow, the Ministry of Justice for example, there is not one non-Isaaq in that department and that was the department that was supposed to get involved in talks between Reer Xareed and Reer Maxamuud Nuur. How can there be justice when the whole department are from the same clan as one of the belligerents?
Another case example, how can the Somaliland authorities still not have arrested the murderers who killed the 4 innocent travellers in cold blood. Those guys are still at large and we have families who are still grieving the loss of loved ones. Basically what the administration is saying to us is: "If you want justice, go and do something about it". In other words they are trying to tell us its their way or the highway. Can any man who has self esteem accept that?

Inshalahl only time will tell if justice will come. trust me Siciid if Somaliland was more incorporating to everyone and made everyone feel satisfied then im sure it wouldnt have reached the situation in bari for example. reer kasta wants to see what is in the interests of reerkooga. That is how everybody is thinking. But I do applaud you, atleast you and me can talk in a civil fashion unlike those other characters like Khalidda Caaliyah

RuralMan08, indeed inshallah time will tell, anigu i believe awdalians are peaceful people and there is no need for armed struggles, unnecessary bloodshed between the two neighbours since traditionally they are good at sorting things with peaceful negotiations within each other, talks in a civil manner instead of bloodshed or armed struggles, laakinse the situation in bari is very different since there is a great animosity for centuries from InaGarre, Ina Abdille hassan, to siad bares, SNM time, so that issue will take longer to solve be it negotations or confrontations, usually confrontations works with the bari folks, the difference between me and khaliid is, he wants a confrontations in peaceful awdal, while i think we should send more troops to the lawless east to keep the peace and close the somaliland borders once and for all.
