The 19th of March come and gone without any incident from the remaining dissident group, is that means the end of activist as we know it in this one city state? The government arrested the dissident group who tried to articulate their opinion in an open letter, the government without formally charging the dissident group they kept them in jail beyond the statutory of limitation inside the police academy.
The misguided President is in campaign mode to change the constitution that he had drafted himself in order to run for the 3rd term. A source close to president says that his original plan was to hand pick Mr Borreh as his successor just like what Mr Putin did with the current President of Russia. But his entire plan was messed up by his wife. She chased away Mr Borreh out of the country; we don’t want to go into the detail of that ugly aftermath. Now the President is standing alone in deserted island surrounded by strangers trying to bush him out cliff.
After all, it’s one city state, ever since this President came into power his main portfolio was foreign affair and Mr Borreh was his darling envoy to the wealthy oil rich Middle Eastern investors. However his wife, the first lady is fully charge of domestic issues, she cleverly insert her power into the existing loose administration. The first government was compromise but the second government has all her finger print on It.????
Kind words do not cost much. Yet they accomplish much. Unlike The President who chooses to disrespect the intelligence of his nation by saying it “the constitution is not a Quran it can be changed “sure it can be amended but how? Only by his absolute power or by majority of the voting population, the best example is Venezuela, to compare him to the President Hugo Chavez its comparing apple and orange, quiet contrary one advocate for the poor and majority, the other one is for the rich minority to rule the majority in unjust manner
The first lady from minority communities pioneered the parallel government by creating the so called Republican Guard they are neither military nor police without clear procedure in the chain of command, they are here mainly to serve her purpose, and also they have no clear jurisdiction. Basically they are a government within the government; they operate like red terror army of Ethiopia during 1970s or Saddam Hussein’s Republican Guard. The chain of command within the so called Republican Guard is chaotic, for example the lowest ranking soldier of her tribe doesn’t obey to the order of his superior.
Speaking about his surrounding personalities, no one has leadership characteristics, no opposition party to challenge him; his own party (RPP) has no new plan for him but fortunately they paved the way for him to continue his political suicide to seek for the 3rd term which is already in full swing, before even changing the constitution.
The biggest challenge for him is to how to make quiet the new dissident group; the procedure of changing the constitution i.e.tranparency of democratic process of voting Yes or No in order to amend the constitution .The approach so far to the dissident opposition is counterproductive. The situation is very volatile and it could disintegrate the role of law unless the course is changed voluntarily by the government or the major foreign governments who has interest to intervene for the salvation of this nation before it descend into anarchy like Somalia.
