Djibouti is literally speaking a hellhole. More than 40 years old, as a semi-independent city administration in a strategic environment, with nothing to show for it. Collosal failure of epic proportion! No sewer system, no decent hospital or even clinic, no single higher education institution. What where they busy doing all this time? Chewing Oromo Qat! It is hot as the hell itself. I dont even understand how anybody survives there! What is there in Djibouti, to inspire anybody with half a understanding of the world and its progress. Djibouti cannot be an Example for Somalia, cause it is neither Somali Republic nor does it have the diverse clan structure that Somalia does. In Djibouti, one single Somali clan is sharing a country with an other ethnic group, the Afar. I dont know where people get this twisted Idea, that Djibouti is a Somali country, when it is clear as a day that it is not

Not sure what you smoking Mr1977 but I assume you're just trolling and that's fine. Myself I troll to piss off few sensitive brothers :)

Djibouti is not a good example for any country. Somalia and Somaliland have more things happening for them than the 850,000 uncreative and un-innovative former French maids.

More than half of the population live on $1.90 per day and over 60% are unemployed for a nation that is not even one million people.

For over 40 years it has enjoyed relative peace, foreign armies poured in billions, it was Ethiopia's main gateway for almost 30 years now.

Yet still not much to show for to be honest.

No respectful institutions, no skilled workers of any kind (doctors, dentists, engineers, pilots). It is so bad that even a foreign man had to revive that little airliner while Somalis have successfully started several private ones on their own.

The difference between Djiboutians and the ordinary Somalis is that the Somalis below Dilla are very entrepreneurial and very competitive.

Notice how all the big tycoons in Djibouti who control the little money came from Hargeisa. The only notable non-Hargeisawi is Abdirahman Borreh, a half Arab man.

The Somalis to the south of Dilla are very tough and go getters.

Mogadishu and Hargeisa already surpassed Djibouti city in the short time they had relative peace without much foreign cash inflows.

Djibouti remains old colonial relic town with few foreign owned buildings.

So my friend Djibouti is not a good example.

Rwanda is more like it.
