77's war was a big mistake!

Postby Heritage! » Tue Apr 19, 2011 2:21 am

that war was destructive in all. hundreds of villages were swept out and thousands of refugees fled their home. Rich pastoralists in terms of livestock, became beggers in the streets of Somalia and Djibouti. their ways of life were ruined...
there were better to help people instead of waging a war on Ethiopia or distributing arms everywhere...

No. but Ethiopia is federal now. every region has got its own goverment.
this is better than a war that has no end. they cannot continue to shed their blood forever. there has to be a solution...

That is bullshit. There is only one party in Ethiopia and is TPLF.This every region has a government is bullshit and these governments do only what TPLF does. There is still war going on and it's being led by the people of Ogadenia. There is no peace and never will be peace.

To keep things short, if things were that great, nobody would rebel. So if what you're saying is true, then it will show on the ground. And if you're lying, it will show on the ground.

well, there is no hindsight button in life or politics. When you got to war, you either win or lose badly. This risk always stands. At that time,a war for the Ogaden was very popular in SOmalia and athe majority of Somalis wanted to retake the Ogaden. They were actually successful at first, then came the Russians and Cubans. Thus this post is neither here nor there.

77-78 war with Ethiopia was morally right one but there was a tactical issues. Somali went war without having an alliance which favored to the end the badly defeated Abyssinian army, only after Soviet sent a massive military assisstance, Cuban, south Yemens, Libyans and East German armies to help Abyssinians, then the momentum of war was reversed and tide had turned against friendless Somalia.

We lost that strugle tens of thousands or more of the best of Somali national army, freedom fighters and civilians we wanted to liberate cought in the crossfire. to say it was a mistake is indeed is a blind and unsomali statement, discrediting the spirit of Somali nationalism and disrespect our parted mujaahidiins who gave their lives to the nation. many of us lost fathers, Brothers, sisters and close relatives, a great hope to reclaim of our people and Somali land which we dreamed so long to reunite once again.

I am not going to say to you what my gut is telling me to say so i would keep it by myself cuz it might do disservice to our heroes of that strugle.
I can imagine where u coming from it is what the Somalis invested last 30 years a self hate and self defeating clanish mentality and u are not alone our stray son heritage, any Somali who had little nationalism left in him would disagree with you not to mention our people who are under Abyssinian occupation.
