same old excuse...
just because people are not perfect it gives them the green light to practice Islam any way they want? correct me if i am wrong, but i was under the impression that Islam was a religion of PEACE. of mercy understanding love and respect, i see none of those attributes in those who call themselves salafis (not those i know of anyways). i know of one sister who was harassed in the prayer room because her abaya was on her shoulders and not on her head

. truth be told, because of my expirience with certain salafis (both somalia and non somali) i am doubtful of them, i dont approach them, and i most certainly do not pray in their mosques. (did that once in the eid of 2004, i had my toes stepped on, and was pulled in both elbows by those standing next to me DURING the prayer.

I beg of you to not generalise...the way of the Salaf is the only true path for that was the path of our beloved Prophet Muhammad (saw)
And why do you insist on backbiting people dear brother i beg of you to refrain from doing so inshallah.
I will not ague with you as this is a case of opinion and not about religion.
Do not judge people because of the actions of a few ignorent ones.
Is that not what the west are doing against Islam??
Asalama Alaikum[/quote]
i didnt generalise, as i specifically put in brackets (the ones i came across). as for backbiting, when did i do that? i'm ure you remember the prophet (scw) used to say that one should always assume the best of a fellow muslim, why assume that i am backbiting when i wasnt.
as for it being the ONLY true path, the prophet said that when you are guiding someone you should always tell them to follow one of the paths to jannah as there is not only ONE path to jannah. (allah forgive me for not remembering all the words)
the way of our prophet was never called the way of the salaf, why do you refer to it as that? our prophet was called the beloved, why not show some love to those around you. smile to them when you greet them, and realise that Islam is not found in the clothes you wear but in your heart. and furthermore, i'm sick of salaafs calling everyone who disagrees with them for kaafir, they've forced many somalis out of mosques by calling them kaafirs for holding parties to remember the prophet, saying it was bi'da. which i agree with, but there are other ways of informing people rather than calling them kaafirs. my mother boicotts their weddings as they wont allow the women to wear the diracs (even in in the company of other women), and also because they've banned the durbaan in the buranbur as it encourages people to clap (apperantly thats shaydaans invention lol) i'm suspicious of them because they are slowly destroying all that is good in this vain attaempt in bringing Islam to the people. they think that the more the cover the less they speak the more sullen and miserable they are the more the possibillity of entering jannah... i agree with their concept of tawheed, that people should be wary of shirk, but at the same time, it's like washing one part of the body and not the other, they HAVE to improve on their Islamic manners, they have to show more piety and humility, until then, i will never be convinced of their true intentions.
ps: i'm not male
