Somalia and China sign new deals over investment

(SomaliNet) Somalia government has made new deals with the Chinese government over rebuilding the entire infrastructure of the capital following the arrival of the Chinese ambassador to Kenya in Mogadishu on Friday, government spokesman said.
Speaking on behalf of Somalia, president Abdulahi Yusuf Ahmed signed the new contract on rebuilding the institutions while on the China side, the ambassador, Du Qiwen signed the deal.
Abdi Haji Gobdon, the spokesman for the government said before signing the agreement the Chinese delegation supervised several locations in the capital including former cigarette and match factory, Mogadishu’s football stadium and other key places, which the Chinese company had previously built.
The China envoy has given one million dollar to the Somali’s government to make renovations at the presidential palace after meeting with president Yusuf.
Asked about when the new contracts will be put into effect, the spokesman said the job will be done as soon as the Chinese delegates return to Nairobi, Kenya.
