End violence against African girls & women in your community
Young People Speak Out - London

FORWARD are looking for 30 young campaigners (male and female, aged 16-25) to take part in this years Young People Speak Out project beginning in August 2007 and ending in Feb 2008 (for 10 Saturdays)

Learn to become a young campaigner and take part in workshops discussing;

- Cultural Indentity
- Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) and Child & Forced Marriage (C&FM)
- Sexual Health
- Human Rights and Gender Based Violence
- and creative workshops including Dance, Drama, Poetry/MC and other arts

We are looking particularly for young people living in the London boroughs of Brent, Harrow and Westminster (although please also apply if you are from another part of London ) and those from FGM practicing communities (West Africa, Horn of Africa etc).

The project is FREE and Travel within London will be reimbursed and all food provided.

The first thing that came to my mind is that you're pissed about something. I just can't picture Somali females holding placard's saying "End violence against African girls & women in your community".

lool im not pissed bout nufink mate, but its an issue that affects ppl in da somali community n stuff. u wont jus hold up placards n stuff. we wanna try n educate ppl about the issue and y it happens n y ppl allow it to happen n stuff
there gunna be lots of worksops like drama,poetry,dance, arts n stuff
inshallah the end result will be really good
we really need guys to get involved
at the end of this u get a chance to become a young campaigner n it'll look really good on ur personal statement for all u uni ppl out there
any1 intersted?

Allow the long essay just post anyone interested in kinter, you will get enough volunteers from male of all ages.
